The article “The Top Ten HR Trends that matter most in 2024” by Jeanne Meister,

talks about the most important and rapidly changing trends that will occur in the upcoming

year. She writes that with the introduction of AI, employers will now be utilizing it more than

ever before if they want to stay on par with their rivals and the industry. Furthermore, Jeanne

also writes that through the pandemic, a major shift has occurred in the minds of employees

which is flexible workloads. The writer argues that hybrid work is becoming ever so popular

and effective among the younger generation workforce with a BCG report stating that

through a two-year time from 2020 to 2022, companies that provided a hybrid option to their

employees noticed a 21% increase in their overall sales. The statistic goes hand in hand with

another of her points in which Jeanne states that the 4-day work week is also a key indicator

of employees’ productivity and happiness. When the UK evaluated the 4-day week among 61

companies last year, it found that over half the employees preferred the option and saw

increases in happiness, productivity, and satisfaction. Overall, the main points that Jeanne

manages to get across are that Artificial Intelligence must become every employer second

nature when it comes to work and that employees are happier and more productive with new

changes in their job structure as opposed to the traditional 5-day work week.
Our book dedicates a full chapter, (Chapter 15), to International HR management.

Thus, I see this article as a more relevant version of the same topics and vocabulary that are

discussed in the chapter. Additionally, there are many overlapping concepts in both the article

and the chapter which have helped me understand the material more simply.

This is an interesting topic, and I found the article to explain all the current and major

trends taking place in it in a unique manner. Also, we discussed our assignments in class, and

I now possess a strong understanding of the material such that I can explain it to my

colleagues. Through the examples and stats written in it, I am confident that I have a strong

grasp of the topic.
