This is to Certify that the output: Teletulong, carehub of the research entitled: Lived
Experiences and Challenges of Rural Health Midwives in Implementing Expanded
Program on Immunization and the First 1000 days of a child’s life” was designed and
developed by the College of Nursing of the Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology
(NEUST), with the BSN 3B Pentavalent group group: DANUEL JOSH M. MALLARE, JOYCE
DENICE B. MANGUNAY, RAYVEN A. MERCADO, SHYNNE CASZANDRA KATE A.

A QR code that is given to an involved


individual upon their check-up or
consultation in the Barangay. Health Center
or MHO. The involved individual will be
advised to scan the QR code for an easy
access to the Facebook page. The QR code
will be visible in all the bulletin boards of the
MHO and Barangay. Health Office.

The TeleTULONG aims to provide health


related services particularly on answering
inquires during the after-hour time
concerning on the Expanded Program on
Immunization (EPI) and the critical first
1000 days of a child's life.

TeleTULONG Manual
OBJECTIVES:
- To become a platform for an after-hour services needed by the individuals involved in the
Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) and those focusing on the critical first 1000 days of a
child's life;
- To address urgent concerns related to immunization, maternal and child health, and the first
1000 days of a child's life promptly and effectively; and
- To improve health outcomes for mothers and children by providing timely access to
information, support, and assistance, particularly during critical periods such as pregnancy,
infancy, and early childhood.

DESCRIPTION:
The Pentavalent group of the BSN 3-C BATCH 2025 of the Nueva Ecija University of Science
and Technology conducted their Research entitled: Lived Experiences and Challenges of Rural
Health Midwives in Implementing Expanded Program on Immunization and the First 1000
days of a child’s life”. This study seeks to understand the implications of the factors for
maternal and child healthcare and to suggest improvements for program implementation. It was
conducted in , where eight rural health midwives were interviewed.
One of the suggested programs is the TeleTULONG as part of the CAREhub program under the
supervision of the Municipal Health Office. It aims to provide health related services particularly
on answering inquires during the after-hour time concerning on the Expanded Program on
Immunization (EPI) and the critical first 1000 days of a child's life.
By offering a centralized point of contact, "TeleTulong" facilitates better coordination of care
and support for individuals involved in EPI and early childhood health initiatives, ensuring
timely and appropriate responses to urgent needs.

As support to the Department of Health’s mandate: Sa Bagong Pilipinas, Bawat Buhay


Mahalaga, the RHU believed on the alternative and innovative way of serving the people through
the use of this open line services that is available in every Barangays.
As needed, all the individuals involved will reach the available or given contact number or
hotline found in every barangay to consult their needs about the Expanded Program on
Immunization (EPI) and the critical first 1000 days of a child's life.

IMPLEMENTATION:
The program of the MHU about the EPI and the First 1000 Days of a Child’s life are regularly
done during the working hours but what if the involved individuals need some help or assistance
to answer their inquiries about the EPI and the First 1000 Days of a Child’s life after office
hours? Where or who should they ask for some help or assistance?
TeleTULONG will answer that directly by the healthcare providers, midwives and other
individuals involved in EPI and early childhood health.
These are the phasing of the implementation of the TeleTULONG program:
PHASE 1: TRAINING
Identify an individual preferably a worker from the Barangay Health Office and the Councilor
in-charge on health concern that will undergo training provided by the MHO. This training is
about the EPI and the First 1000 Days of a Child’s life, how the BHW and the Councilor handles
the inquires of the involved individuals in their respective barangay, and how they will direct it
to the healthcare providers, midwives and other individuals involved in EPI and early childhood
health and vice versa.

PHASE 2: IMPLEMENTATION
Once the training is completed, the trained BHW and the Councilor in-charge on health concern
will now go back to their respective barangays and request a mobile device like cellphone to the
budget of the barangay. The mobile device with the registered SIM will now serve as an open
line device to answer the inquires given by the involved individuals in their barangays. The
mobile device should be available 24/7 and has a regular load to call the healthcare providers,
midwives and other individuals involved in EPI and early childhood health. After of getting
feedback or answer given by the healthcare providers, midwives and other individuals involved
in EPI and early childhood health, the BHW in-charge on the TeleTULONG will now call the
involved individuals to answer their inquires or questions.
PHASE 3: EXECUTION
The mobile number should be given confidentially to the involved individual once they are
interviewed during their check-up or consultation.

Assessment or evaluation of the effectiveness of this program shall be done every quarterly and
submit that report to the MHO office.
BUDGETING:
The budget allotted to this program shall be for the mobile device and the regular load only. The
MHO will give their consent to those Barangay Captain regarding this matter.
