120
What's New in Hik-Connect

Chapter 22 Updates in V4.18.0

This release notes introduces the updates in Hik-Connect 4.18.0, including new features and
optimizations for device management authorization.

Authorized Device Management

Invite an Installer to Manage Your Devices
In previous versions, if you want an Installer to set up your devices for you, the Installer usually
needs to create a site* for you in the Installer account, add new devices to the site, and hand over
the devices to you when everything is ready. However, it might be a little tricky to let the Installer
manage your devices if you have already added the devices to your Hik-Connect account.
Now, you can invite an Installer to help you manage the devices that are already added to your
account.
To invite an Installer to manage one of your devices:
1. In the device list, tap of the device and the Share Device page will pop up. Or you can select
More → Manage Sharing Settings → Share Device to show the Share Device page.

Figure 22-1 Share Device

121
What's New in Hik-Connect

Note
If you cannot see this page, it means the device cannot be managed by an Installer and can only
be shared with another Hik-Connect user.
Possible reasons: the device is shared from others; the device is already managed by an
Installer; the device is not enabled with the Hik-Connect service; the Hik-ProConnect service
(Installer service) is not available in your country or region.
2. Tap Share with Installer.
3. Tap New Installer and enter the Installer's account if you want to share device permissions with
a new Installer or you do not have an Installer before; select an existing Installer if you have
authorized one or more Installer to manage your other devices.

Figure 22-2 Select Installer

4. Select the site* where the device will be added and the device permissions you want to grant to
the Installer.

122
What's New in Hik-Connect

Figure 22-3 Authorization

Note
- If the Installer has not created any site* for your devices, a new site* will be created.
- * What's a Site? A site is like an area where your devices are located, such as your home,
office, etc. Your Installer uses sites to group, batch configure, and provide cloud features for
your devices.
Check Device Exceptions and Handling Results
You can receive and view the exception notifications of your devices that are managed by the
Installer.

123
What's New in Hik-Connect

After your Installer handles an exception, you will also be notified of the handling result.
You can see all exception notifications in Cloud Service → Service Notifications → Linkage .
Quick Authorization After Adding a Device
After adding a new device to your Hik-Connect account, you can choose to authorize an Installer to
manage it.
Keep or Cancel the Authorization of a Transferred Device
When another Hik-Connect user transfers a device that is already managed by an Installer to you,
you can choose to keep the authorization service or cancel it.
If you choose to keep the current authorization, the Installer managing the device will still have the
device permissions after the transfer.
If you choose to cancel the authorization, the Installer will not have any permission of the device
after the transfer.
