You usually imagine an artist with a brush in one hand and a palette in the
other hand. Grant Sharman is different. He can’t move his arms or legs and he
can’t use his hands or feet. So Grant paints with his mouth. When Grant was
young he was good at Science and he wanted to be a pilot. His plans changed
when he had a serious accident. He was playing rugby at school when it
happened. Grant broke his neck and he lost the use of his arms and legs. Grant
could paint but he wasn’t very good. He needed to learn new techniques after his
accident and at first he couldn’t do it. “The first painting I did was terrible”, he
says. But now Grant is very good at drawing and painting. He´s a professional
artist and he is a member of the International
Association of Mouth and Foot Painters (IAMFP). He can
make money from his paintings. “I have a good lifestyle. I
am very fortunate”, he says. Grant is modest. Perhaps
he’s fortunate but he’s also talented.
