Regarding terminals, it has three terminals where international flights operate in terminal 1, 2 and a third
low-cost airline terminal where the cheapest airlines use terminal three for international flights. For
instance, Japan Airlines is currently the main operator at terminal 2 and Jetsar Japan and Vanilla Air use
terminal 3.
All terminals have restaurants with a wide gastronomic offer, such as traditional Japanese food and cafes.
Also, there are waiting rooms or lobbies and lounges, currency exchange and ATMs, Medical services,
services for passengers with reduced mobility and ground transportation. At terminal 1, check-in is
processed on the fourth floor, and departures and immigration control are on the third floor. Moreover,
most shops and restaurants are located on the fourth floor of the Central Building. Narita has a VIP room
for different airlines, such as the Narita travel lounge in terminal 1. At terminal 2, check-in, check-out and
immigration control for arriving passengers is on the second floor, while baggage claim and customs are
on the first floor. The closest hotel for international flights is Nine Hours Narita Airport, a capsule hotel
with a direct connection to Terminal 2. And the last terminal, includes a 24-hour food court which is the
largest airport food court in Japan, and an Islamic prayer room.
Narita is the airport with the most air traffic in the city. It is a busy airport and because of this, Japanese
authorities have limited the number of flights that each company can operate from Narita, making it an
expensive airport for both companies and users.
Since the airport is situated within Narita City, people can easily head out and explore the nearby
attractions during an extended layover.
Transport
The Narita Express is a Japan Railways rail service that connects the
airport with the city of Tokyo, on a journey that takes 53 minutes to
reach Tokyo station, 80m to Shinjuku station and 90m to Omiya and
Yokohama. It is the fastest method, but also the most expensive. Each
ticket costs between 3,000 and 4,500 yen in economy class. Japan
Railway also offers a fast service to Tokyo Station that takes 90 minutes
than the various railway lines. There is also a taxi service with an expensive price. To conclude, Mori
Building City Air Service offers a helicopter charter service between Narita and the Ark Hills Resort in
Roppongi, taking 35 minutes and costing 280,000 yen each way for up to five passengers.
Narita Airport has the idea of a solar energy generation installation project,
being the “largest” in the world at an airport in Japan that occupies about
200 hectares of space. Its objective will be to complete the project at
the end of 2030 and at the end of 2045.
To conclude, it is important to highlight this great airport as innovative,
imposing and technological, which offers a variety of services and
transportation in addition to facilitating the comfort of passengers.
