 IR ABSORBER

▪ Polyethylene is rather transparent to Infra-Red radiations

▪ As a consequence, the heat generated under the greenhouse can easily
escape through the film
▪ CESA®-IR additive masterbatches absorb the far IR radiation in the region
from 7 to 13 µ, reflecting inwards the “thermic” radiation emitted by the soil
▪ This maintains higher temperature throughout the night ( 2 - 5°C ) and offers
significant benefits in agriculture

 ANTIFOG
▪ The term “fog” describes the condensation of water vapour on the film
surface as discrete droplets.
▪ The condensation of water leads to undesirable effects :
• Reduced light transmission
• Water dripping
• Plant burns
▪ Fog formation occurs when the temperature of the inside surface of the film
falls below the dew point of the air enclosed in the greenhouse.
▪ The cooled air can not retain all the water vapour, and the water in excess
condensates upon the film surface.
▪ The difference in surface tension between water droplets and polyolefin films
does not allow the droplets to spread over the film surface.
