ILT NO.

02
TOPIC: LET’S MARK THE BOUNDARIES
OBJECTIVES:
(1) Describe the distribution of active volcanoes, earthquake epicenters, and major mountain belts.
(2) Determine the scientific basis for dividing the Lithospheric plates.

INSTRUCTIONS & GUIDE QUESTIONS:

Materials: : PRINT-OUT OF Figure 5: Map of earthquake distribution, PRINT-OUT OF Figure 6: Map of active volcanoes of the world,
PRINT-OUT OF Figure 7: Mountain ranges of the world, 2 pieces plastic sheet used for the book cover, marking pens (two different colors)

GENERAL RULES FOR EVERY ILT IN SCIENCE:

1. All answers should be written first in your NOTEBOOK - GUIDE QUESTIONS, TABLE, ETC
(Ok lang di magandang penmanship, BASTA readable, malinis at maayos ang format. Pag di ko mabasa, mamalian ko po)
2. Insert the REQUIRED picture(s) in its RESPECTIVE number below.
(Ok lang burahin ang box, basta nasa ILALIM ng tamang label ung pic. BAWAL randomly inserted ung pics)
3. For the RECORDED VIDEO(s), if required, ATTACH them in the Google Task before Turning In.
(Hindi pwede ilagay dito yung video, iattach sa Mismong Google Task bago mag submit or mag turn-in)

4. ALL FILE NAMES should be in a form of your: ILT#_Section_Surname

(Mapa Picture o Video, dapat section mo ang filename.EX. ILT01_Acts_Tacadena)

5. Always READ all Instructions and Rubrics.

6. FAILURE to follow any direction will result in a score DEDUCTION.

GFA RULE:
7. DEADLINE: 7:00am of the next day
ANY LATE SUBMISSION, 7:01 am and beyond of the next day, will be given a grade of ZERO.

SUBMITTING WITHOUT THE REQUIRED PICTURE OR VIDEO

WILL AUTOMATICALLY BE GIVEN A GRADE OF ZERO!
(ito ay dahil wala kang Scientific Proof na ginawa mo talaga yung ILT, at para Fair sa Lahat)

Procedure:
1. TAKE A PICTURE of all your materials.
2. Study Figure 5 showing the earthquake distribution around the world.
3. Trace the approximate locations of several earthquake “clusters” using a marking pen on one of
the plastic sheets. TAKE A PICTURE.
Q1. Where are they located? Where are there no earthquakes?
Q2. Why is it important for us to identify areas which are prone to earthquakes?

4. Study the map of active volcanoes in Figure 6.

Q3. How are volcanoes distributed? Where are they located?

5. On the second plastic sheet, sketch the approximate locations of several volcanoes using a marking
pen.
6. Place the earthquake plastic sheet over the volcano plastic sheet. TAKE A PICTURE.
Q4. Compare the location of the majority of earthquake epicenters with the location of volcanoes
around the world.

7. Study Figure 7, the orange portions indicate mountain ranges of the world.
Q5. How will you relate the distribution of mountain ranges with the distribution of earthquake
epicenters and volcanoes?
