GENDER EQUALITY FROM DIFFERENT VIEWPOINTS

Gender equality is a crucial aspect in our ongoing efforts to create a fairer and more
equitable society. Despite some progress in recent years, differences still exist in various
areas such as politics, economics, and cultural beliefs. This essay aims to explore the many
facets of gender equality by considering different viewpoints and sources. Through this
exploration, we hope to highlight ways to achieve a more inclusive world where everyone,
irrespective of their gender identity, is treated with equal rights, opportunities, and respect.

Gender equality in Islam is a multifaceted topic influenced by interpretations of

Quranic verses and Hadiths, reflecting both theological principles and historical context.
Quranic verses: Surah Al-Imran, verse 195, and Surah An-Nisa, verse 124 ; Both males and
females are treated equally and have equal opportunities, as indicated in the following. These
Quranic verses demonstrate that Islam does not support discrimination or differentiation
based on gender in the pursuit of achievements. Islam, along with other religions, shows
different views on gender equality, highlighting that various religious beliefs promote
fairness, even if they differ in how they're understood and practiced.

In science and education, achieving gender equality means ensuring equal

opportunities and treatment for everyone regardless of gender, fostering an inclusive
environment for all to thrive. Promoting gender equality in education and science primarily
implies the existence of an adequate legal framework as well as an appropriate institutional
mechanism that enables the implementation of the regulations. Most of the reforms
implemented in Serbia, including the field of gender equality, in the previous period were
guided by the most important foreign policy strategy, i.e., the accession of our country to the
EU (Ignjatović & Bošković, 2013), and, in this sense, the mechanisms for achieving gender
equality are constantly being harmonized with the EU legislation.

Even though we've made progress, many young people, like Gen Z, still don't fully
support gender equality. It's important to get their attention and involve them in reaching this
important goal. Ipsos' annual International Women's Day finds 60% of Gen Z men across 31
countries think women's equality discriminates against men. Despite the stereotype of
Millennials and Gen Z being “woke”, younger generations are more conservative on the issue
of gender equality. As a part of Gen Z, it's on us to champion gender equality, ensuring
women can chase their dreams without barriers, because, let's face it, everyone's got their
own magic, regardless of gender.

In wrapping up, it's clear that gender equality remains a crucial aspect of creating a
fairer and more inclusive society. Despite progress, differences persist across various sectors,
from religious beliefs to scientific fields and even among younger generations like Gen Z.
However, it's vital that we continue to push for equal rights and opportunities for all,
regardless of gender. Whether it's ensuring women can pursue their dreams freely or
challenging outdated perceptions, each of us has a role to play in championing gender
equality. By working together, we can create a world where everyone's unique talents and
potentials are celebrated, regardless of gender.
