To complete my explanatory remarks relative to the Recitative,
I will observe in particular, that this form of music is not only
employed for singers, but also is often written for orchestral
instruments as a solo. As an example, in Beethoven's Ninth
Symphony the Recitatives are performed by the Cellos and Basses
while the remainder of the orchestra joins in the accompaniment.
As every Double Bass player is expected to know these particular
Recitatives, I have rhought it advisable to add them to this
method. as follows:
