I. Introduction
a. Vision & Mission
• Vision Statement: OWWA is the lead membership welfare institution that
serves the interest and welfare of member-Overseas Filipino Workers
(OFWs).
• Mission Statement: OWWA develops and implements responsive
programs and services, while ensuring fund viability, towards the
protection of the interest and promotion of the welfare of its member-
OFWs.
a) To protect the interest and promote the welfare of member-OFWs in all phases
of overseas employment in recognition of their valuable contribution
to the overall national development effort;
e) To ensure the efficiency of collections and the viability and sustainability of the
OWWA Fund through sound, judicious, and transparent investment
and management policies;
d. Achievements (Based on what I have seen and known when I was doing my
internship)
• Assistance Programs: OWWA provides various assistance programs to
OFWs and their families, including financial assistance, livelihood support,
education and training programs, legal assistance, and repatriation
services. OWWA Region 9 may have achieved success in effectively
delivering these programs to the OFWs and their families within its
jurisdiction.
• Welfare Services: Ensuring the welfare and well-being of OFWs and their
families is a key focus for OWWA. This includes providing access to
healthcare services, counseling and psychosocial support, and emergency
response assistance. Achievements in enhancing the welfare services for
OFWs and their families could be highlighted.
• Capacity Building and Training: OWWA often conducts various capacity
building and training programs aimed at enhancing the skills and
employability of OFWs. OWWA Region 9 may have achieved notable
success in providing relevant training programs to OFWs to improve their
chances of employment and income generation.

c. Description of unit/department
i. What it does
• The COA-OWWA unit is responsible for auditing the financial transactions
and operations of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration. Its
primary function is to ensure the proper and efficient use of funds
allocated for the welfare and protection of overseas Filipino workers
(OFWs). This includes auditing OWWA's budget allocation, expenditures,
and programs to ensure transparency, accountability, and compliance with
relevant laws and regulations.

iii. What are the tasks involved in this unit/department
• Conducting financial audits and examinations of OWWA's accounts,
budgets, and expenditures.
• Reviewing OWWA's financial records, reports, and transactions to ensure
accuracy and compliance with auditing standards.
• Reporting audit findings, observations, and recommendations to relevant
stakeholders, including OWWA management and government authorities.
iv. Challenges/Problems in the department
• Complex Financial Transactions is one of the challenges that is present.
Auditing OWWA's financial activities, which involve a diverse range of
transactions and programs, can be complex and require thorough analysis
and scrutiny.
III. Tasks
a. What is/are your tasks/responsibilities in the unit/department
• In the COA-OWWA unit, my tasks and responsibilities primarily revolve
around file management and financial document verification. Specifically,
I am responsible for recording files, ensuring their completeness, and
identifying any missing documents. Additionally, I review various financial
documents, compute amounts, and verify that they match the information
provided on paper. Furthermore, I play a role in organizing files within the
department to ensure efficient access and retrieval.
b. What were the challenges encountered in doing your work
• One of the main challenges I encountered in my work was the volume of
files and documents to be processed within tight deadlines. Additionally,
ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial documents posed a
challenge, especially when discrepancies arose or documents were
missing.
c. How did you manage to overcome those challenges
• To overcome these challenges, I implemented several strategies. Firstly, I
prioritized tasks based on urgency and importance, allowing me to focus
on high-priority files first. Secondly, I developed meticulous organizational
systems to streamline file management and ensure efficient document
retrieval. Thirdly, I maintained open communication with my colleagues
and supervisors, seeking guidance and clarification when needed. Lastly, I
honed my attention to detail and analytical skills to effectively identify and
resolve discrepancies in financial documents.
d. What are the good and bad things that you experienced in the unit/department
• One positive aspect of working in the COA-OWWA unit is the opportunity
to gain hands-on experience in financial auditing and file management,
contributing to my professional development. Additionally, the supportive
work environment and collaborative atmosphere fostered a sense of
teamwork and camaraderie among colleagues since there are other
interns in the office. In my whole on the job training, I did not experience
any bad things. The environment in the office is very welcoming.
e. How did your immediate head and other employees treat you
• Sir Rino Blanca which is my immediate head/supervisor treated me with
professionalism and respect. He was supportive and provided guidance
when needed, fostering a positive learning environment. Additionally, he
was approachable and willing to assist whenever I encountered difficulties
or had questions. He was also so kind and understanding to me. The
supportive atmosphere contributed to my ability to perform my tasks
effectively and grow professionally within the department.
IV. Learning Discoveries (1-3 learning discoveries)
a. What have you discovered during your stint in the unit/department
• During my time in the COA-OWWA unit, I discovered the intricacies of
financial auditing and the complexities involved in ensuring transparency
and accountability in government operations. Additionally, I learned the
importance of attention to detail and thoroughness in verifying financial
documents and records
b. What have you learned from these discoveries
• From these discoveries, I've learned the significance of adaptability and
resilience in navigating challenging work environments. I realized that
effective communication and collaboration are essential in overcoming
differences and achieving common goals. Furthermore, I've gained insights
into the importance of continuous learning and professional development.
