Process
This process will be broken down into 2 steps:

1. Immediately logging a sent HARO

2. Logging successful HARO placements
3. Monitoring successful, non-notified placement

1. Immediately Logging a Sent HARO

● Open the HARO Tracking Sheet
● Under Who Answered, enter the name of the person who sent it
● Under Source, enter HARO
● Under Question, enter the name of the HARO query precisely as it is displayed in the
query.

● Under Date Received, enter the date the original email was sent (this is visible in the top
right on Gmail)

● Under Day of the week, enter the day of the week the email was received
● Under Time Received, enter Morning, Afternoon, or Evening. This can be found in the
subject line of the HARO email.

● Under Date Sent, enter the date the response was sent
● Under Time Sent, enter the time response was sent in EST
● Under Answer Link, enter the URL of the email
○ This can be found by going to Sent
○ Select the Email
○ Copy and paste the unique URL that this email has
● For the rest of the fields, see below
2. Logging successful HARO Placements
When someone sends notice that a response has gone live, locate the original response in the
HARO tracking sheet and add:

● Under Date accepted, add today’s date (not the date they notified you)
● Under Notified of Acceptance, put Yes
● Under Link URL, enter the URL where the quote is placed

3. Monitoring successful, non-notified placement

Around 50-60% of placements will not send notice that they have used the quote. It is important
to regularly check to see if anyone has done this so it can be logged.

● Go to Google
● Enter the name of the website in quotation marks and -yourwebsite.com
○ E.g., “Authority Hacker” -authorityhacker.com
● Click on Tools

● Select Past Week

● Check the results given for any potential quotes used
● If anyone has featured a quote, follow the second part of this SOP and ensure No is
entered under Notified of Acceptance.
