CSDI Awards 2024 Data Insight Training Highlight

 

To promote CSDI and to raise the public’s interest in spatial data, Geospatial Lab, established by the Development Bureau, is organising
the CSDI Awards 2024 – “Present Spatial Data, Map our Future” (the “Awards”). The Awards is aimed to encourage students and the
public to creatively use spatial data to address challenges we faced in the city.

The Data Insight Training and Presentation Workshop on 27 April at The Mills, Tsuen Wan, was a resounding success. Sr Yue Chun Chan,
Head of Spatial Data Office, Development Bureau, gave a welcome speech to all participating teams. We had the honour of hosting
Professor Herbert Chia, JP, Member of the Board of Directors of HKSTP, Mr. Michael Yung, Founding Fellow of Data Literacy Association,
and a group of mentors, who provided deep insights into observing data and presentation skills. Participants will also have the
opportunity to apply what they have learned by conducting site visits and explore innovative ways to harness spatial data in solving
real-world challenges. Our mentors shared their insights on the application of spatial data with participants as well. It is hoped that this
event will help participants prepare for the Awards and gain a deeper understanding of spatial data.

We would like to express our profound appreciation to all the guests, mentors and participants for their enthusiasm and support. The
Presentation Day and Award Ceremony of the Awards will be held in July. We hope to see you all again there.
