Read these words, stressing the double syllable broken in the word block
Exercise 1: Practise reading words with Pupils (They should all take turns
and come to the board to try and read the words with the help of the teacher. At
the end of the lesson, they should copy the words on their home work books and

A digraph is the name given to two successive letters that represent a single sound. It could
be vowel letters like “ai” in rain or consonant digraphs like “ph” in phone. When you find two
different vowels together in a word; The first vowel over rides the second vowel. Lets take a

It was a very hot day. Anna’s Mum did not want to get out in the sun. But she
had to go to the market. Her dad did not want to get out in the sun, but he had

1) As already mentioned, 2 is smaller than 4 because 2 has a smaller
number of stars than 4.
2) Also, any number that comes before a said number is smaller than
the number. E.g. numbers less than or smaller than 17. All the 4
numbers that come before 17 are numbers smaller than 17. Write 2
them in the brackets.
