AHMEDABAD: The preparations for the month-long centenary celebration of Pramukh

Swami Maharaj, former spiritual head of BAPS sect of Swaminarayan Sampradaya,
received final touches by 80,000-odd volunteers on Tuesday at the 600-acre site on SP
Ring Road.

PM Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 'Pramukh Swami Nagar' in the presence of spiritual
head of the sect Mahant Swami on Wednesday. The premises will be open for devotees
and visitors from December 15 to January 15, said officials.
In an official press release, the PM Office (PMO) states, "His Holiness Pramukh Swami
Maharaj was a guide and guru who touched countless lives across India and the world. He
was widely respected and admired as a great spiritual leader. His life was dedicated to the
service of spirituality and humanity. As the leader of BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha, he
inspired countless cultural, social and spiritual initiatives, providing comfort and care to
millions."

The organizers told TOI that some of the attractions at the event include a 30-feet tall idol
of Pramukh Swami, an Akshardham replica, a glow garden, five exhibition pavilions, Bal
Nagari (Kids City), seven ornate gates with idols of saints from across India, and daily
discourses and discussions ranging from law and religion to medicine and philosophy

"It's the true culmination of the year-long celebration of Bapa's centenary year by lakhs
across the globe. He has touched so many lives, and thus the entire organization is run by
the volunteers who work as a homage to him. Hundreds of NRIs are expected to arrive by
the end of December," said an organizer.
