Problem Definition:

In this assignment we are asked to design a steel structure on Ansys to analyse

how certain forces are going to act on this structure. In addition, how different
boundary conditions can affect the total deformation and stresses on this
structure. This structure is going to be analysed according to 2 concepts of design
the first to be considered as trusses and the second where 2 links are going to be
considered as beams.

strength of the material I chose is 2.5*108 Pa and the Maximum stress after
making our analysis was 3713657.78 Pa. Now to check if the structure is
safe or not, we shall calculate the factor of safety.

In conclusion, we can say that this structure is very safe.

g.

The safety factor of steel ranges between 4 and 6 so the Maximum Force to
be applied is around 400 KN

From Properties of steel in the engineering data it states that the yield
strength of the material I chose is 2.5*108 Pa and the Maximum stress after
making our analysis transiently will exceed this number after 3 mins (158
sec), which will eventually make it fail. All in all, the structure is safe as long
as this force is applied within the time frame of these 3 mins.
