What’s in the Box Gam

Start by placing the pictures in a box and laying out the words, face up, for your child to see
Ask your child to pick a picture from the box without looking
Then match the picture to the correct word.

Picture-Word match gam

Spread the pictures and words face up
Ask your child to match each word to each picture.

Undercover gam
Place the pictures under a cover so your child can’t see them and lay out the cosponsoring words
Remove the cover and ask your child to try and remember all of the picture
Recover the images and remove one of the pictures without showing your child
Then reveal the images again, where there is one missing, and ask your child to identify the word of
the missing picture
Remove one picture and take turns to tell or write down the picture that is missing.

You can try adding or removing the number of images depending on how your child is progressing. A
child in Year R may start with 3 pictures.
