KEEPING ANFIELD INFORMED…

WHAT’S HAPPENING ON SITE…
The redevelopment of Anfield Stadium and the
surrounding public area, has continued at pace over the
last few weeks as Carillion have been busy erecting the
new steel structure which will form the expanded Main
Stand.
The new structure which is now visible from several
points in the Anfield area has almost reached full height
- it currently stands higher than the existing Main Stand,
with an upper tier and roof still to be added.
Work has also begun on installing the stairs and metal
decking that will hold the Main Stand's new floor.
Carillion have also completed all main foundation work.
Excavation work is currently underway to complete the
two huge Tower bases which will support the new steel
roof truss which will be completed later in the year after
several weeks of preparation work during the close
season.
Cameras were installed overlooking the site, in order to
monitor the expansion process. You can watch the latest

Welcome to May’s Main Stand Expansion
Newsletter. Each month we will keep you
updated on work taking place to transform
the Main Stand and the surrounding local
area. A copy of the newsletter is sent to each
home in the Anfield area and is also available
to collect from local Community Centres.

LOCAL OPPORTUNITIES…
As part of LFC’s commitment to the regeneration of
the Anfield area, the Stadium Expansion will create
new opportunities, for local people.
Carillion Construction Services will be hosting an event
for local people interested in apprentice opportunities
at Anfield and also on the Royal Liverpool Hospital
project at on 28 May
Apprenticeships are great pathways into the
construction industry and provide young people with
an opportunity to earn while they learn. Apprentices on
both the Stadium and Royal Hospital projects will
receive full training and will be supported with their
career goals. Apprentices will also be assigned an
individual Mentor to help guide them during their time
on the project
Apprentice opportunities are available in the following
trades: Joinery, Mechanical, Electrical , Painting and
Decorating, Administration, Hard & Soft Flooring
Dry Lining/Interior Systems

choice or you would like to find out more
information about what is on offer and how to apply,
then please join us.

CENTRE REDEVELOPMENT…
Anfield Sports and Community Centre will undergo a
redevelopment as part of a £2.3m scheme that will
enable the charity to offer improved sporting facilities
and programmes to people living in North Liverpool.
Working with its funding partners - Liverpool Football
Club, Liverpool City Council, the Premier League & The FA
Facilities Fund, Sport England and the Johan Cruyff
Foundation/People’s Postcode Lottery and UEFA - the
ASCC’s Football 4 Everyone programme will bring much
needed investment to the Centre.
Work has begun on site and will see major improvements
including a new full size floodlit artificial grass pitch, a
three court sports hall, the refurbishment of existing
artificial grass turf pitches and other works including new
commercial office space.
One of the key developments will be the construction of
a ‘Cruyff Court’ which will provide young people with a
safe place to play sports as well as health and personal
development support, funded by Dutch football legend
Johann Cruyff’s Foundation. It will be the third such
facility in the UK and the first outside London.
The ASSC project is part of the £260m Anfield
regeneration project, delivered by Liverpool City Council,
Liverpool Football Club and Your Housing Group.
In addition to providing funding, LFC will use the centre
as a base for its charitable activities in North Liverpool
through its Foundation, which already runs a range of
programmes from the ASCC.
STADIUM DROP IN EVENT…
As part of our commitment to keeping you informed,
we would like to invite you to a community
information session on Wednesday 3 June.
The drop in session will be an opportunity for you to
hear from LFC and Carillion on what you can expect in
the coming weeks and months. We will also be able to
answer any questions you may have about the
redevelopment and provide you with information on
employment and apprenticeships on the project.

TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE…
The temporary closure of Anfield Road between
Skerries Road and Alroy Road is in place until 29
November 2015.

During the 2015/2016 Season, Anfield Road from
Skerries Road to Alroy Road will re-open on a
matchday when construction activity is paused
CONSIDERATE CONSTRUCTORS…
The Anfield Stadium expansion project is
registered with the Considerate Constructors
Scheme (CCS), a national initiative set up by the
construction industry to encourage best practice
beyond statutory requirements. Carillion will
comply with the scheme’s Code of Considerate
Practice. Further detailed information on the
