Driving skill

It is argued that being able to steer the wheel is a valuable skill, and some think that it
should be part of the school curriculum. Although I agree that driving a car is a
valuable skill, I personally disagree that schools should not teach this skill to students.

In my opinion, in the contemporary era, many youngsters know how to drive vehicles,
and knowing how to operate the vehicles is beneficial for several reasons. One of the
main advantages is independence and mobility, which offer people the ability to travel
independently without relying on public transport or others to commute. This is also
comfortable in places that have unreliable or limited public transportation. Further,
knowing how to operate a car is a key opportunity for people who like traveling and
whose families or friends live far away from them. This means that individuals can
travel anytime without waiting for planes or trains or being constrained by schedules.

While I mention above several benefits of operating a car, I believe that it would be
wrong, and it is hard to teach students how to steer the wheels in schools. Many
youngsters find it difficult to learn driving skills, which require many components
such as navigation, parking, road rules and regulations, and traffic awareness. So that
some of them cannot eliminate their fear and have a lack of experience or confidence,
and this can lead to accidents or other problems. For example, in Australia, young
drivers (18–25 years old) are significantly overrepresented in car accidents, leading to
numerous serious and minor injuries each year.

In conclusion, I know that driving is a necessary and worthy skill to learn, but I would
argue that schools should only focus on academic subjects that help students in their
future studies rather than teaching students difficult skills like driving.
