✓ አንተው ራስህ ልትሰራው ትችላለህ። You can do it yourself
✓ እሱ ራሱን እና ሌሎችን ይረዳል። He treats himself and
others.
✓ እሷ በአንድ አሰቃቂ ቀን ራሷን ወንበሯ ላይ ቁጭ ብላ አገኘችው። She
found herself one dready day sitting at her desk.
✓ ድመታችን ምግብ ከበላች በኋላ እራሷን ታጥባለች። Our cat
washes itself after each meal.
✓ እናንተ በራሳችሁ መተማመን አለባችሁ። You have to believe in
yourselves.
✓ እኛ ብቻችንን ማውራት እንችላለን? Can we talk by ourselves?
✓ ፓርቲውን እኛው በራሳችን ብቻችንን አቋቋምነው። We organized
the party all by ourselves.
✓ እነሱ የሚያስቡት ስለራሳቸው ነው። They think about
themselves.

The Amharic demonstrative pronouns are used to point to something,
and they are listed as follows:

እነዚህ These
እነዚያ Those

ጠቋሚ ተውላጠ ስሞች Their usages:

ይህ This These demonstrative pronouns are
ያ That used to refer to singular nouns.

እነዚህ These They are used to refer to many

እነዚያ Those nouns.
ይህ This They are used to point to
እነዚህ These something in a nearby location.
ያ That They are used to indicate an object
እነዚያ Those in a distant place or time.
ምሣሌ፦
1. ይህ እኔ የምፈልገው ዘገባ ነው። (This is the
report I want.)
2. ያ በጣም የሚገርም ነው! (That is amazing!)

children.)
4. እነዚያ ቤተሰቦቻችን ናቸው። (Those are our
families.)

6. እነዚህ መኪናዎቼ ናቸው። (These are my cars.)
7. ያንን ተመልከት። (Look at that.)
8. እነዚያ መጥፎ ቀናቶች ነበሩ። (Those were bad
days.)

የጎደለውን ባዶ ቦታ በትክክለኛው አፀፋ ተውላጠ ስም
ይሙሉ።

3. መጠይቅ ተውላጠ ስም (Interrogative pronoun)

When the number of words called interrogative

pronouns or interrogative pronouns is very small,
we use these words to ask questions by placing
them at the beginning of the sentence; Thus, the
sentence ends with a question mark (?). The
words presented below are መጠይቅ ተውላጠ ስሞች
(interrogative pronouns).
Let's look at the use of these words
መጠይቅ ተውላጠ ስሞች Their service in the sentence
(Interrogative
pronouns)
ማን (Who) Both are used to refer to a person.
እነማን (Who / plural)
ማንን (Whom)
እነማንን (Whom /
plural)
የትኛው (Which) It applies to both people and things.
የትኞቹ (Which) Plural
ምን (What) It applies to both people and things.
ምኖች (What) Plural
የማን (whose) የማን and የእነማን are pronouns we
የእነማን (whose) Plural use to ask when we want to know who
owns something.
Examples:
1. እነዚያ ሰዎች እነ ማን ናቸው? (Who are those
people?)
2. ማንን ነው ማዳመጥ ያለብኝ? (Whom should I
listen to?)

 3. የማንን ሀሳብ ነው አንተ የምትቀበለው? (Whose
opinion do you accept?)
4. አንተ ምን ዓይነት ሰው ነህ? (What sort of man
are you?)
5. ምንድን ነው የምትለው? (What are you
saying?)
6. ስለምንድን ነው የምታወራው? (What are you
talking about?)
7. የትኛውን ነው ጥሩው? (Which one is the
best?)
8. እነዚህ ጓንቶች የማን ናቸው? (Whose are these
gloves?)

Identify and underline the correct interrogative
pronoun.

1. የመጀመሪያው ሰው ማን ነበር? (Who was the

first human being?)
2. ማንን ፈልገህ ነው? (Who are you looking
for?)
3. ምን አገኛት? (What happened to her?)
4. ያጠናኸው የትኛውን የውጭ አገር ቋንቋ ነው?
