VOCABULARY: ACCOMMODATION
Nouns
- facilities and appliances; heating system; air conditioner, patio, bedroom balcony, en-suite
bathrooms, exuberant trees…
E.g.: My new house has a spacious living room and four en-suite bedrooms.
- halls of residence; residential area; apartment block; villa, interior, exterior, semi-detached house,
terrace, bungalow, townhouse, country house, cottage, estate, bedsit, dilapidated building
E.g.: We live in a typical Vietnamese semi-detached house on a small street in Hanoi.
Adjectives
- four-storey (house, building…),
- spacious (room…), luxurious, strange-looking, gold-plated
- newly built (house, apartment block…)
- affordable (housing): There is a shortage of affordable housing in my city.
- open-plan: not having inside walls dividing the house up to rooms: Our apartment has an open-plan
kitchen that is fully equipped with all mod cons.
