Memoir

What were the best and worst parts of the Senior project/Senior seminar?

I loved having the opportunity to do my senior project. I believe I've matured as a young
adult through volunteering with the ambulance. I learned valuable skills and the basics
of understanding EMS that will help me in my future career.
My favorite part about the senior seminar was getting over a fear of presenting. I felt
accomplished and proved to myself I can do hard things. I also really enjoyed getting
CPR certified with my peers. Hearing from people in our community and their jobs was
engaging and useful.

Three things you know after completing your Senior project?

1. The ranks of EMS and the roles they provide. Day in the life on and off calls
2. How to reach out to do volunteer work. How to apply through the city hall
3. More Basic life support (BLS) abilities/understanding, EMS is my future career
post high school

Which aspect of the Senior Project/Senior Seminar stretched you the most?
How did you feel about and react to this challenge?

Having to reach out to the head paramedic was a stretch for me. I emailed him
and scheduled ride-alongs where I'd have to arrive at the department where I
didnt know anyone. It was out of my comfort zone at first to be with EMTs for 10+
hours not knowing what the day had for us.

How has the Senior Project/Senior Seminar changed you (skills, attitudes,
work habits, capabilities, confidence, poise, presentation, etc.)?

I've realized the importance of making a good first impression on interviews. I will
also now use my resume that we made for the future . Ive struggled with my
confidence in presenting in front of my class but I worked hard to get over my
fear. I feel accomplished in my work ability during class and stepping out of my
comfort zone to find new passions.
Has this experience influenced your future plans?

I have decided to get my EMT certification after highschool. Then going to

Paramedic school starting fall of 2025.

What would you do differently if you had to do the whole Senior

Project/Senior Seminar process again?

I would like to do ride-alongs with the police department to see if that's something
I would be interested in. I learned a lot about the differences between law
enforcement and EMS through my project. EMS has a different interest and place
in my heart.

What advice do you have for next year’s seniors?

Pay attention, be present. We are being taught valuable information that will be
helpful in the future.

What grade would you give yourself for your Senior Project and what
justification do you have for that grade?

I would give myself an A because I worked very hard on all of my assignments

and my senior project. I was present during class and understood the material.
My work was done on time and with effort. I would highly recommend my project
to upcoming seniors because it was such a great experience for me.
