VIII. BACKGROUND, PURPOSE, AND FOCUS ISSUE

In the world today, dealing with segregating garbage problems in the

environment is crucial. Our project aims to contribute by using automated waste
segregator technology in the environment. Recognizing the urgent need for
sustainable waste disposal practices, The researcher project plans to create and put
into action an Arduino-based auto-segregation trash bin system. The researchers
want to teach the students and teachers of Eduardo Cojuangco National
Vocational High School the important things about this project. This project will
give the students and teachers knowledge on how to use automated waste
segregator technology to take care of the environment.

In response to the escalating environmental challenges, our proposed

project connects with the Technical Vocational Livehood track and will give
solutions to the environmental challenges. Using automated waste segregator
technology will not only advance waste management but also make a useful and
engaging tool for students and teachers in Eduardo Cojuangco National
Vocational High School.

The researchers are concentrating on Computer Systems Servicing (CSS)

and Information and Communication Technology (ICT). The researcher's
objective is to enhance the learning experience for students in these fields. The
researcher will achieve this by developing an Arduino-based auto-segregation
trash bin system. This project includes a sensor capable of recognizing materials
like paper and plastic and determining whether the waste is metal, plastic, or
paper. The sensors are connected to an Arduino Uno to process the data, allowing
the system to automatically sort the waste into separate compartments inside the
trash bin.

This study initiates a useful learning opportunity for approximately 300

Technical Vocational Livehood students at Eduardo Cojuangco National
Vocational High School. The project will occur within the school premises,
providing a suitable environment for hands-on experiments and promoting
collaborative learning among participants. This not only improves the technical
skills of students but also provides insights into the potential of technology in
promoting sustainable practices.

IX. PROJECT VISION

The project aims to improve how the Eduardo Cojuangco National
Vocational High School students handle waste by using an automated waste
segregator system.

X. OBJECTIVES
The project aims to make an automated waste segregator using Arduino
that can sort garbage. It will be set up at Eduardo Cojuangco National Vocational
High School to evaluate its effectiveness in waste management. The researchers
will check if it helps manage trash better and tell others about it.

XI. PROJECT DESCRIPTION AND COMPONENTS

The Automated Waste Segregator aims to address the pressing issue of
inefficient waste management at Eduardo Cojuangco National Vocational High
School by implementing a smart waste management system using Arduino-based
auto-segregation trash bins. Currently, the Eduardo Cojuangco National
Vocational High School faces challenges with traditional waste segregation
methods, leading to environmental pollution.

Through research and observation, the researcher has noted that usual
waste disposal practices contribute to environmental degradation and pose health
risks to the school community. Garbage bins often overflow, leading to littering
and unsanitary conditions.

The project will involve designing and deploying Arduino-based

automated waste segregation trash bins equipped with sensors and robotics to
automatically segregate waste into categories such as metal, plastic, and paper. By
leveraging technology, the system aims to well organize waste management
processes, enhance efficiency, and reduce environmental pollution. Additionally,
the project will raise awareness among students about the importance of proper
waste disposal and the benefits of using automated waste segregation systems.

The target client for this project includes the students and teachers of
Eduardo Cojuangco National Vocational High School. The students and teachers
of Eduardo Cojaungco National Vocational High School will benefit from a
cleaner, healthier environment and improved resource utilization through
recycling.

XII. SCHEDULE OF ACTIVITIES

The researchers will start with thorough research on current waste
management practices at Eduardo Cojuangco National Vocational High School.
Moreover, the researchers will talk to the students of Eduard Cojuangco National
Vocational High School to hear their ideas. Furthermore, the researchers will
design and develop an Arduino-based auto-segregation trash bin prototype based
on the research findings. After testing and refinement, the researchers will train
the teachers and students on how to use the Automative Waste Segregator in the
school. Continuous monitoring to ensure everything works right and ask for
feedback to make any needed changes.
