SIZE
The Baby Duck/Goose stands approximately 13 cm (5 inches) tall when using the
specified yarn thickness and tools.
TIPS
STUFFING SOFT TOY
Polyester Fiber Fill: The stuffing technique significantly affects your toy's shape. Begin
with little bits and increase adding more for form. Fill corners well for firm shaping but
avoid overstuffing and stretching stitches. Use a lengthy, slender needle to adjust the
stuffing evenly. Check the pattern's videos for more tips.
SAFETY EYES
Safety first! Make sure your little ones are safe by avoiding safety eyes, buttons, beads
or glass eyes on toys for children under three years old – they can be a choking hazard.
WASHING
Clean up time? These animals can be washed by hands in warm water and dried flat.

HEAD
The instructional videos an photos featured in this section demonstrate the principle of
assembly using the large goose as an example. The baby duck is assembled in the
same manner.

Goose Flat version- Assembling”

1. Place safety eyes into the purl stitches (eye markers)

Scan QR code
and look for the
video “#4 Goose

Assembling.”

2. Use the cast-on tail to stitch edges together under the

beak in mattress stitch on the right side. Leave the front
edge of the beak open. Ensure that you don't sew through
the row with the inserted thread as it will prevent you from
shaping the beak later.

3. Use the tail that was pulled through the last stitches of your
knitted fabric and use it to sew the edges of the head
together with a mattress stitch on the right side. Remember
to leave the opening approx. 2cm at the bottom of the
head for stuffing. Stuff the head, being careful to avoid
overfilling the beak area, which should be lightly stuffed, if
at all. The front edge is still open.
• Do not overstuff, don’t let the stitches stretch.
• Distribute the stuffing throughout the toy by inserting a
long thin sewing needle in between the knitted stitches
and moving the stuffing around to fill the space.
• Move stuffing up to the top of the head shaping a high
forehead. Follow the measurements from the picture.
The white arrows show how to distribute stuffing.
• The head has a rounded shape! And flat at the bottom.

4. To ensure accurate beak stitching, follow the images

provided, squeeze the beak, holding the beak seam 15cm
centered at the bottom. Use a whip stitch on the right
side of the knitted fabric and new yarn to stitch the
edges of the beak opening in front together from side
to side. While seaming, ensure that you insert the
needle through the outer stitch legs for a seamless
finish.

Stuff the body. To ensure the perfect

ATTACHING THE HEAD and BODY

Watch a video tutorial:
Join the head to the body with sewing pins.
Working around, attach the head to the body in a running stitch,
grabbing stitch of the body and stitch of the head alternatively.

When a small opening left, insert more stuffing the neck to make it firm.
Stuff the neck well so that the neck is sturdy. Finish seaming. If you have
done everything correctly, your toy’s head will be stable.

LEG, WINGS&TAIL ATTACHING

Attach the legs by tails left after the "hip point" shaping.
Pull the thread through the body to the opposite side, pull back the yarn,
and make a secure stitch so that the leg sits tight in place. Then grab the
second leg and insert the needle through the hip point we shaped
before and make the secure stitch once again. Then work the needle
with yarn through hip points on the legs and body back and forth several
times. Weave in.

too short, continue knitting to achieve the required length, making sure to
finish off with a purl row.

should come close to, but not quite reach, the heel. If

desired length, and be sure to finish with a purl row.

Sew the straps to the front of the waistband with buttons and attach them
to the back as well. Then sew the leg seams and the back seam, ensuring
you leave an opening for the tail.
