Simple bunnies

Suggested needles: 4mm/ US6 I suggest circular but if you are making a small bunny
DPNs work too.
Yarn: about 70gr of DK weight yarn. You can use any yarn you want (wool or cotton) but
will have to change your needles accordingly. I recommend to knit a small swatch and see
how you like the drape and fabric.
Gauge: 5 stitches x 5 rows = 2.5 cm/1’’ in garter stitch measured after blocking. Gauge is not
relevant for this project.
Finished measurements: 18 cm/7’’ tall (including ears), 21cm/8.2’’ wide
Other notions: darning needles, small amount of wool or leftover yarn to stuff the head.
Optional: thread to embroider eyes, progress keeper, wooden tether.
Skills required: knit, YO, k2tog, ppso (see abbreviations on page 3)
Directions:
CO 2
Increases:
Row 1 (RS): k1, yo, k1 (3sts)
Row 2 (WS): knit all the stitches
Row 3: k1, yo, knit to end.
Repeat row 3 until 50 sts or until desired. Tip: you can add a progress keeper at the
beginning of the 3rd or 5th row to mar the right side.
Middle section, work arms:
Next row (RS): cable cast on 10, bind off 10, k1, yo, k2tog x 2, knit to end.
Next row (WS): cable cast on 10, bind off 10, k1, yo, k2tog x2, knit to the end of row
Decreases:
Row 1: k1, yo, k2tog x2, knit to the end
Continue decreasing until you have 8 sts left: k2tog x 4
Next row: k2tog x2 and on the next row: psso
Ears: leaving a long tail, CO 3 sts
Row 1: Knit
Row 2: k1, m1, k1, m1, k1
Row 3: knit
Row 4: k1, m1, k3, m1, k1

2
Knit 8 rows
Next row: K1, k2tog, knit to the last 3, k2tog, k1. Knit the next row.
Next row: K2tog, k1, k2tog (3sts)
Sl1, k2tog, pass stitch over.
Finishing:
Before assembling, I suggest steam blocking or wet blocking each piece. Fold square in half
and tie knots for hands. With a darning needle and a thread of the same yarn pinch the
middle, and sew head, placing a small amount of stuffing as you do so. Sew close. Sew ears
to head and embroider eyes if you like.
You can add a round wooden teether at the bottom by placing it between the edges and
sewing them together.
Your bunny is ready and ready for a baby to play with!
