Assignment # 1 (A Case Study)
Marks: 30 & Weightage is 10%

Due date: Oct 26, 2023

Note the following instructions:

 Group assignment. Make of group of (three to four) students.


 Submit assignment as a hard form Assignment via E-mail will not be accepted.
 While submitting assignment, write your name, ID, course code, course section.
 In case of late submission of assignment, 50% of total marks of that assignment will be
deducted for each day.
 In case of cheating (copy pasting or using the same data of your fellows) or plagiarism,
university policy will be follows.
Question: Collect data (Primary data) from at least 40 persons on the following variables:
1- What is your gender?
 Male
 Female
2- Which pet is your favorite?
 Cats
 Dogs
 Horses
 Birds
 Rabbits
 Others
3- What is your age?

4- How many siblings do you have?


1. From the above four variables, describe the name of variable, type/sub-type, and
measurement scale of each variable. Fill out the table below. [1+1+1+1]

2. Make frequency distribution (including class boundaries, mid points, cumulative


frequency, relative frequencies) for the data in question#3. [1+2+4]
3. Construct a frequency distribution for the data in question#4. [3]
4. Make a cross tabulation (two-way classification) of the data question 1 & 2. [3]
5. Draw a histogram, frequency polygon, ogive and simple bar chart (on excel) for the
data sets question 3 and 4 by applying the appropriateness of graphs. Also interpret
the shape of data. [3+3+3+1]
6. From the relative frequencies, describe that which age group has the highest
proportion? [1]

Note: Data should be original and collected on all four variables from the same sample of
size at least 40. You can collect data by mobile phone therefore write down the mobile
numbers of each respondent so that I will check the originality by making calls to them
randomly. Every group should have unique data.
2 marks for the collection of primary data.
