 Introduction

Mr. Larson has given us the challenge of improving common objects.

We must take a simple thing like a pencil, and transform it into a much
more complex item. The main idea of this project is to create things to
make human life better and/or easier. Here are a couple things I
picked:

1. Suitcase
2. Picture Frame
3. Whiteboard Eraser
4. Water Bottle
5. Dining Table
 Improved Suitcase

The average suitcase just has two compartments; one side for shoes, the other
for clothes. Often during trips these items will tumble around. Seeing as shoes
always get stuff like dirt and rocks stuck in the bottom, they will hit the clothing
and mess it up. I added built in shoes cases so they would not be able to flip
around and stain other fabrics.
 Improved Picture Frame

When you use a picture frame, you have to take it off the wall, then undo the
back (make sure not to drop the glass), and then replace and do the same
process backwards again. This is quite inconvenient. So, to fix this time
consuming process, I have added a flap on the side of the frame. To change a
photo, you just have to lift the slat and replace.
 Improved Whiteboard Eraser

When teachers go to erase their giant whiteboards, it takes them a while and a
lot of struggle with the ink. No longer do they need to worry! I have recreated a
whiteboard with a large eraser (With whiteboard eraser liquid on it) hanging
above the board. All you need to do is press a button and it will drop, erasing just
about everything. It’s almost like a car wash!
 Improved Water Bottle

The average water bottle has no handles, making it difficult to just carry around.
You have to grab it by the cap and the bottom just to carry it, limiting how much
you can hang on to at once. This new bottle has a foldable handle on top, and
another on the side making carrying it even easier. Other features include a straw
hole with a cap in the case that you prefer not to use it (cap also can cover straw
so no bugs get in your drink.).
 Improved Dining Table

The average dining room table is just a slab of wood with legs. However,at most
dinners people accidentally spill their drinks. With the new design, there are cup
holders to stop this from happening.
 Conclusion

Using the knowledge gained from this experience, I can conclude that there are
still so many ways to improve our current ways of life. However, even though
there are flaws in products they are still usable. I enjoyed making these and hope
that maybe I will create better ideas in the future.

Research

I have chosen to continue researching the white board eraser, and the picture
frame ideas.
