information at their fingertips, 21st century skills focus on making sense of information, sharing
it, and using it wisely, hence changing the way we teach our students. Project-based learning
(PBL) is one pedagogical approach to be adopted in classrooms to help students develop and
acquire necessary skills for the 21st century.

importance of applying it in the classroom. This highly interactive and practice-based training

learning lessons. Moreover, attendees will be introduced to a list of digital tools that make their
future projects more immersive and entertaining.

Key Messages and Learning Points
When delivering this 90 minutes training, the facilitator should cover the below core
points making sure that the attendees will remember them:

● Students learn crucial employability skills like communication, problem-solving,

and teamwork through in-depth, open-ended scenarios that mimic real-life job
circumstances.
● Differentiating between Project-based learning and traditional project activity
● Project-Based learning is a student-centered approach and the teacher plays the
role of a facilitator
● This pedagogical approach has several elements that the students should
understand well before starting with any project
● PBL projects are open-ended projects, allowing for critical thinking and analysis
thus generating a range of solutions that have not been suggested before.
Students determine if the problem suggested is the real problem or whether there
is a different problem that needs to be solved
● Throughout the PBL process, students will learn to uncover a range of solutions
(not a single solution) within a range of constraints (feasibility, practicality, time…
etc. To ask questions and do research in teams to determine the true nature and
scope of the problem. How to best organize and present information. To share
assumptions they make, consider alternate assumptions and describe how a final
recommendation was reached.
● This approach has many benefits like improving understanding and discovery of
what the “real” problem is, developing social/communication skills, teamwork,
and critical thinking skills…etc.
