A Mother’s Legacy

Proverbs 31:26-31
She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and
does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: “Many
women do noble things, but you surpass them all.” Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears
the LORD is to be praised. Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

Motherhood is the state of being a mother. A woman enters motherhood when she become a mother. This was
commonly happens when a woman bore a child and is born, it also happens to someone through adoption.

Legacy - is something that you adopt or acquire and it will be handed down or passed on to the next generation.

One of best example in the bible who had a great legacy of motherhood was Jechobed.
Exodus chapter 2

Jochebed was the mother of three famous people in the Bible.

Her childrens are:

1. Miriam - a prophetess, poet and singer in Israel. 10 Yrs older than Aaron.
2. Aaron - the first high priest of Israel. Three years older than Moses.
3. Moses - the deliverer of Israel. 3 months old.

A Mother’s Legacy:

1. A Legacy of Wisdom.

Jechobed is wise woman.

Exodus 2:2-4
“The woman conceived and bore a son, and when she saw that he was a fine child, she hid him three months. When she
could hide him no longer, she took for him a basket made of bulrushes and daubed it with bitumen and pitch. She put
the child in it and placed it among the reeds by the river bank. And his sister stood at a distance to know what would be
done to him.

2. A Legacy of Faith.
Jechobed is a woman of faith.

Hebrews 11:23
“By faith Moses’ parents hid him for three months after he was born, because they saw he was no ordinary child, and
they were not afraid of the king’s edict.”

3. A Legacy of Love
Jechobed is a loving mother.

A Heart of a Loving Mother:

* A mother is someone who loves her children more than anyone else.

* A mother is also someone who would have sacrificed for her children. (It’s always a woman who makes more sacrifices
in her life than a man does).
* A mother chose family responsibilities and many other things before what she likes. (That’s the power of a mother’s
love.)

4. A Legacy of Prayer
Jechobed is a woman of prayer.

He honors her prayer, by delivering Hebrews from Egyptian enslavement through Moses, and by placing her other son,
Aaron, as high priest. Her daughter Miriam rose to prominence among the Hebrew women and Jochebed’s entire tribal
family was selected by God to lead the worship for His people. Jochebed means ‘Jehovah glorified’. She certainly lived
out her name to bring glory to God!

Conlusion :
Money, property, fame will eventually lost and be destroyed but the legacy of our faith in God is eternal.
