Believing God

Hebrews 4:12-13 (NIV)

12
For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even
to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
13
Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the
eyes of him to whom we must give account.

2 Chronicles 20:15-23 (NIV)

15
He said: "Listen, King Jehoshaphat and all who live in Judah and Jerusalem! This is what the LORD
says to you: 'Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is
not yours, but God's.
16
Tomorrow march down against them. They will be climbing up by the Pass of Ziz, and you will find
them at the end of the gorge in the Desert of Jeruel.
17
You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance
the LORD will give you, O Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go
out to face them tomorrow, and the LORD will be with you.'"
18
Jehoshaphat bowed with his face to the ground, and all the people of Judah and Jerusalem fell
down in worship before the LORD.
19
Then some Levites from the Kohathites and
Korahites stood up and praised the LORD, the God of Israel, with very loud voice.
20
Early in the morning they left for the Desert of Tekoa. As they set out, Jehoshaphat stood and
said, "Listen to me, Judah and people of Jerusalem! Have faith in the LORD your God and you
will be upheld; have faith in his prophets and you will be successful."

21
After consulting the people, Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the LORD and to praise him for
the splendor of his holiness as they went out at the head of the army, saying: "Give thanks to the
LORD, for his love endures forever."
22
As they began to sing and praise, the LORD set ambushes against the men of Ammon and Moab
and Mount Seir who were invading Judah, and they were defeated.
23
The men of Ammon and Moab rose up against the men from Mount Seir to destroy and annihilate
them. After they finished slaughtering the men from Seir, they helped to destroy one another.

Psalm 32:1-11 (NIV)

1
Blessed is he whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered.
2
Blessed is the man whose sin the LORD does not count against him and in whose spirit is no deceit.
3
When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long.
4
For day and night your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of
summer. Selah
5
Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, "I will confess my
transgressions to the LORD"-- and you forgave the guilt of my sin. Selah
6
Therefore let everyone who is godly pray to you while you may be found; surely when the
mighty waters rise, they will not reach him.
7
You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of
deliverance. Selah
8
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you.

9
Do not be like the horse or the mule, which have no understanding but must be controlled by bit
and bridle or they will not come to you.
10
Many are the woes of the wicked, but the LORD's unfailing love surrounds the man who trusts in
him.
11
Rejoice in the LORD and be glad, you righteous; sing, all you who are upright in heart!

Prayer
Heavenly Father, may your word become a living thing within my heart. I turn to you in repentance
and turn away from all ungodliness. You are my hiding place, my security is in you. The provision for
my life and the strength of my days come from my God and my Redeemer. I rejoice in the hope of
my salvation. May the joy of the Lord fill my heart. Amen.
