Capstone Proposal Good Copy

The question I proposed for my capstone project was how I could take an album and create a
beautiful piece of creativity from each song. And I was curious as to how would it influence my
work.
The main reason for why I chose this specific topic was because I thought it was a unique idea
and its pretty simple but not necessarily easy. For instance, it’s quite vague, leaving lots
of interpretation and the work may be overwhelming sometimes. However, with all my
resources I think I can manage an assignment of this magnitude.
It will allow me to create work with mediums I'm unfamiliar with. For instance, I am not
well versed in poetry, but this is a perfect opportunity for me to experiment with things
like that. And I am always open to trying new things and going outside my comfort zone.
And I find that this practice is good for me because it works as explosion therapy, which
is somewhat effective. And by experimenting with new things, I can discover new
passions which can enrich my life and my approach to the world of art and literature,
such as poetry and watercolour.
Art and literature are a way I sometimes express myself and my feelings and when I do
those things I often listen to music. So, I thought that incorporating the music with my
work would be an interesting concept. And it is good for the brain and boosts one’s ego
when they complete something creative their proud of. Like when I complete a poem,
I’ve spent a lot of time on writing and contemplating the actual finished product and
being able to not just read it but show others, is a great feeling.

The prior knowledge I have with this premise is mostly from English and art classes
where I experimented with different art mediums and writing styles. However, the last
English class I took was English first peoples, so it was a little different. For instance, we
didn’t really read poetry and focused more on nonfiction. As for art I’m most skilled in
sketching but I need to have a particular work environment to sketch well. I am most
interested in learning and enhancing my skills in watercolour painting, because it has a
verry nice esthetic in my opinion. And they are easier to clean opposed to acrylic and oil
paints. And they are much more cost effective. I have tried. My poetry I think is
somewhat decent however it varies in terms of the tone of my poem. And the quality of
the poem depends on whether or not I think it is a decent poem.

My intended career areas at this point in time relate to artistry and education. Which are
both two carriers which connect to my capstone project. And by learning these new art
and literature techniques it will connect to my journey to becoming a successful
educator, or artist. Improving my writing proficiency allows me to communicate complex
concepts clearly and develop compelling plans and educational materials.

The subjects connected to my project are mainly Art and Literature with a focus on
poetry.
• Art because it was a big passion of mine a couple years ago. However as
of recent I have kind of grown apart from drawing and my skills have
somewhat dropped. But by having art be a part of my capstone, perhaps my
skills will improve.
• Literature because it is a field I am somewhat interested in and not too
experienced, so it will let me explore new fields of creativity I'm not yet well-
versed in. my grammar is subpar, at least with my writings. Although I am
quite well spoken, mainly because my mom is a speech language pathologist.
So, I kind of picked up on her language skills.
• I am especially inexperienced in the field of poetry, and I plan to make
poetry a key aspect of my capstone project. As it is an area, I have some
interest. And it is something I’m eager to learn and a field where I can
enhance my skills in. I will be somewhat self-taught.

I plan on presenting my capstone via PowerPoint because it allows me to organize and

display information in a clear, visually engaging manner. PowerPoint helps me highlight
key points, incorporate multimedia elements, and maintain the audience's attention
throughout the presentation. I will also be showing my three watercolour paintings to
represent the 3 skits on the album. And the physical paintings will be used as
visualizers. And this will enhance communication. And each slide will show the poems I
wrote in order corresponding to the album, with a couple brief sentences showing the
overall meaning behind the poem. And of course, my website will be up to date showing
all my capstone updates and blog posts. And by me presenting in front of an individual
or an audience, will connect to social responsibility. I have also taken personal
awareness and responsibility in my presenting skills, which stem from my past
experience in the drama studio as an actor and performer where I need to take the
responsibility to put myself in front of a crowd.

In this project, I aim to explore the connections between watercolor painting and poetry.
By creating a series of original watercolor paintings and poems, I hope to dive deep into
the themes inspired by a selected album. By blending these two forms of artistic
expression, I want to highlight the interplay between visual art and literature. This
connects to my positive personal and cultural identity because I was brought up In a
household where things like the art were greatly appreciated, especially grammar, being
that my mom is a speech language pathologist.

Watercolor Paintings:

Inspired by the album's mood, symbolism, and imagery, I will create a series of
watercolor paintings that capture its essence. Each painting will reflect the emotions and
themes of the music. My approach will include:

• Color Palette: Choosing colors that evoke the album's mood and atmosphere.
• Symbolic Imagery: Using symbolic elements from the album's lyrics to create
meaningful visual representations.
• Techniques: Experimenting with various watercolor techniques to mirror the
textures and layers of the music.
• Creative Thinking: Innovative and energetic mindset fueled by the use of
creatine, often associated with enhanced cognitive performance and mental
clarity.

Poems:

Drawing inspiration from the album's lyrics and themes, I will write a series of poems
that encapsulate its emotional depth and narrative essence. Each poem will serve as a
lyrical interpretation of the album. My approach will include:

• Direct Quotation: Using lines or phrases from the album's lyrics to ground the
poems in the source material.
• Imagery and Symbolism: Employing vivid imagery and symbolic language to
evoke the themes and emotions conveyed by the album.
• Form and Structure: Experimenting with different poetic forms and structures to
reflect the album's rhythmic and melodic qualities.
• Critical thinking: Disciplined process of actively and skillfully analyzing,
evaluating, and synthesizing information to make reasoned judgments and solve
problems effectively.

Conclusion:

By combining watercolor paintings and poetry, this project aims to show the
interconnectedness of visual art and literature. Inspired by the selected album, I want to
create a cohesive body of work that celebrates the power of artistic expression to cross
boundaries and evoke deep emotional responses. Through this exploration, I hope to
foster a deeper appreciation for the creative process.
