4. PROCEDURES
4.1 Introductory Activity (5 minutes). The class will start with an opening prayer and the teacher will ask the students to arrange their
chairs. Greetings, classroom management, and checking of attendance will follow.

4.2 Activity/Strategy (8 minutes). About the Author worksheet

The teacher asks and wants to know students, who their favorite poets are or maybe the poets
whom they are familiar with. Student are given a worksheet that they need to fill out.Their
choice of poets is not limited to just one nationality. They may pick someone from the
Philippines, or an Asian, European, or American poet. It is totally up to them as long as the
students get to justify why they chose him or her.They may go to the library or use their mobile
devices to research the necessary information about their chosen author as needed in the
worksheet. Teacher will give 10 minutes to accomplish this task.
Another activity: Reading Aloud

The teacher will randomly draw students name from the fishbowl and the name that is drawn
and called will recite the poem. Teacher will be giving individual copies and expect students to
read it aloud with feelings and emotions. Teacher ask questions related to the poem drawn.

1. Who is the narrator of the poem?

2. If you had to describe the poem’s mood with two adjectives, what would they beand why?

3. What literary and poetic devices were used in the poem?

4. What do you think is the poem about?5. What is your perspective on grief and death?

6. What is the theme of the poem?

7. What is your main takeaway from the poem?

4.3 Analysis (15 minutes). After the questions raised by the teacher, a formal discussion on The poems by American poets,
particularly Robert Frost and Walt Whitman. The students will be encouraged to participate in an
interactive discussion.
4.4 Abstraction (5 minutes). The students will summarize the key points discussed.

4.5 Application (10 minutes). The class will be analyzing poetry about Robert Frost and answer another worksheet.

4.6 ASSESSMENT (10 minutes). Analyzing Poetry
The class will read and analyze one last poem, also by Robert Frost. Students will be given
another worksheet to guide you as you read through the poem.

4.7 ASSIGNMENT (4 minutes). The teacher will remind the studentstol write their own free verse poem, applying the
different literary and poetic devices that have discussed.

4.8 CONCLUDING ACTIVITY (3 minutes). The students will be asked if they have any questions, clarifications, and additional points.

The prayer leader will lead the closing prayer and the teacher shall dismiss the class.
