Statement of Complex Engineering Problem (CEP)

1. Design a water supply scheme for a residential area by assuming the population and water
demand of that and other significant parameters. Use the Hardy cross method for the designing
of the water supply scheme. And validate your design by applying the software EPA NET.
2. Design a sewerage system for the same area assuming appropriate design parameters.

Activities:
1) Assume the population in the current year (2024) and design the treatment plant for
the year 2043 (projection of 10 years)
2) Calculate water demands including various requirements (e,g., fire demand, etc.)
3) Provide a detailed design and calculations for each component of the water treatment
plant.

Notes:
 Group size: 4 to 6 students per group
 Each group should select different residential to distinguish CEP design from each other
 Submission mode – printed hard copy
 Any further requirement as set by the instructor: Group presentation
Deliverables:
Final Report

Group Presentation/discussion/viva voce

Submission Deadline: One week before final exams
