Objectives Week No. 2
1. Describe the structure and function of
animal and plant cell organelles.
2. Describe some cell modifications that
carry out specialized functions (e.g.,
flagellum, cilium, and root hair). Wednesday -
Day
3. Observe root hairs under the microscope. Thursday
4. Observe samples of animal and plant cells
using the compound microscope

Suggested Activities
the Plan
Motivation:
Let the students watch and observe a video about how materials is being
made in a factory.
The video is all about “How Paper is Made”
Awareness After watching ask the students following questions
- What are their observations about the video?
- How does a particular factory work to produce such material?
- Does it follow step-by-step process?
- How can will you compare it to a cell and its parts?
Analysis o After the writing down each part, each member of the group will give
and share ideas and information about a particular part of the cell and tell
its function to the class.
- Having studied the different parts of the cell and their functions, prepare
Application for a simulation on the functions of selected organelles found in both
plants and animals.
- Materials: Anything that can be found inside your classroom
- Procedure:
1. Form a group with 10 members.
2. Choose at least one cell organelle and two other organelles which
work closely with it.
3. Simulate the functions of your chosen organelles.
Note: You will be given five minutes to portray your chosen organelles.
Questions:
1. How important is the role of each organelle in the survival of an
individual?
2. How does the structure of an organelle affect its function?
3. Give examples of organelle coordination with one another to perform
their different functions.
