What does a technical engineer do?

A technical engineer provides technical or engineering support in a specific field.


They continuously analyse products and processes to identify technical problems
and resolve them. For example, if they are working in the IT industry, they may
provide technical support for hardware and software issues. In the petrochemical
industry, they may support petrochemical engineers in plant operations and
maintenance. They possess thorough technical knowledge in their field and work
under the supervision of senior technical engineers. The primary job
responsibilities of a technical engineer are:

 assisting engineers and senior technical engineers in their duties


 providing the required technical support to engineering teams
 implementing safety guidelines for the operation of systems and
equipment
 investigating failures and troubleshooting equipment or systems
that break down
 training employees, clients and customers on proper handling and
care of equipment
 developing corrective measures to prevent frequent technical
problems
 training entry-level technical engineers
 creating training material and manuals for troubleshooting
 maintaining warranties and maintenance manuals for machines
and devices
 conducting quality control checks for equipment and processes
 assessing, documenting and reporting quality deviation
 collecting data and presenting reports regarding technical issues
