DAILY LESSON PLAN IN AUTOMOTIVE

May 21,2024

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the session, the students will be able to:
a) discuss the function of each external part of the gasoline engine,
b) display accuracy in labelling/tagging on the parts of external engine
through activity sheet, and
c) appreciate the importance of the external engine’s function in real life
through oral recitation.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

Topic: Functions of the external parts of gasoline engine
Reference: https://www.sciencedirect.com/topics/engineering/gasoline-engine
Materials: Laptop, power point presentation, and picture.

III. PROCEDURE
A. Preliminary Activities
 Prayer
 Greetings
 Attendance
 Flashback on the significant learning from the previous discussion. (Oral
recitation)

Review

The teacher will ask student’s the different types of external parts of a
gasoline engine.
B. Motivation:

Activity 1: “Pass the Pen”

The teacher will flash a certain part of an external gasoline engine one at a time. While
the external part is displayed, the teacher will play music while the students pass the
pen to one another. Whenever the music stops playing, the student holding the pen will
be asked the function associated with the particular part of external gasoline engine
presented. This is a linear process until the last picture is presented."

IV. ANALYSIS

1. Why do we need to identify every function of each external part of the

gasoline engine?
2. Is it necessary to label accurately each part of external gasoline engine?
3. If one part of the external gasoline fails to do its function, are all other
parts will be affected?

V. ABSTRACTION

Discuss the external parts of the gasoline engine.

VI. APPLICATION

Instruction: Identify the external parts of the gasoline engine. State the brief function of
each part.

VII. EVALUATION

Instruction: Write T if the statement is true, write F, if otherwise. If false, identify the
word/phrase that makes the statement incorrect.

_______1. Oil pan is the reservoir for oil that gets pumped throughout the engine to
lubricate, clean and heat moving parts.
______2. The harmonic balancer helps minimize torsional crankshaft harmonics and
resonance.
______3. The primary purpose of dipstick is to indicate the level inside the engine.
______4. The starter motor is responsible for turning the engine after ignition and
allowing everything to happen.
______5. The oil filter helps remove contaminants from your car engine's oil that can
accumulate over time as the oil keeps your engine clean.

VIII. ASSIGNMENT
Instruction: For your additional exploration as to how each external parts of gasoline
engine works. Please watch the reference link below. In a ½ sheet of paper, write at
most 100 words about your reflection, why we need to extensively understand each
function of the external parts of gasoline engine.
