IPTeC TEACHING PORTFOLIO MIDPOINT REVIEW

that the participant will need to update their portfolio with any additional teaching experiences in the remainder of the
IPTeC year prior to submitting their final portfolio.

Q1. Please enter the participant's first and last name:

Alli Harrison

Q18. Please enter the participant's email (this will send a copy to them to confirm submission):

Q3. Teaching Log Progress:

Is the teaching log updated by the participant as lectures or presentations are given? Does the participant
appear to be on target to complete the minimum requirements for IPTeC?

IPTeC Requirements:

Didactic (2 hours): instruction to health professionals and/or health professional students

Experiential (6 hours): APPE or IPPE rotation teaching through facilitation of or assessment of
learners delivering topic discussions, journal clubs, presentations, etc. **presenting to a preceptor
alone without learners does NOT count**
Precepting/co-precepting (6 hours): patient care discussions, patient care activities, project
management, etc.

On track to meet all IPTeC requirements

Q4. Mentor comments for the participant's teaching log:

Alli has updated her teaching log as she has completed experiences. She also has future experiences tracked in the log
to ensure she meets her requirements. We discussed a potential concern with the timing of her precepting experience
(May/June) being later than the date her IPTeC portfolio is due; while Alli will not serve as lead preceptor until then, she
has and will serve in a co-preceptor capacity. Alli will include her co-preceptor experiences in her IPTeC portfolio and
reflect on how she will apply what she has learned from these experiences to her lead preceptor experience. Overall, no
concerns present.

Q5. Teaching Philosophy:

The participant has developed a teaching philosophy that is clear, concise, and reflective. The participant
has considered his or her own personal approach to teaching and precepting.
Some improvement needed (detailed below)

Q6. Mentor comments for the participant's teaching philosophy:

Alli has developed a draft of her teaching philosophy. We discussed the components of an effective teaching
philosophy and how to pull the thread of her personal philosophy through her teaching methods, etc. Alli has reviewed
example philosophies and will continue to develop her own philosophy through Q3 and Q4.

Q7. Examples of Teaching:

The participant has included teaching materials (handouts, cases, presentations) that reflect his or her
teaching philosophy.
Yes
Q8. Mentor comments for the participant's teaching materials:
Alli excels in developing visually engaging and well-organized teaching materials. These are reflective of her desire to
engage and stimulate students via multiple methods, including visual mediums, during teaching. Alli is intentional in
incorporating knowledge checks throughout didactic teaching and incorporating fun and relevant patient cases.

Q9. Feedback Regarding Teaching:

The participant includes feedback from lectures and presentations given from students, peers, and/or
preceptors.
Yes

Q10. Mentor comments for the participant's feedback:

Alli has collected learner feedback on her teaching skills via paper forms. We discussed the potential benefits of
collecting feedback via Qualtrics or another online platform to increase ease of including feedback in her website. Alli
has also received informal feedback from other mentors (RPD, preceptors) on her teaching experiences to date.

Q11. Reflection of Teaching:

Provided self-reflection following each lecture highlighting areas that he or she did exceptionally well during
the lecture, as well as opportunities for improvement. If a lecture or presentation was repeated, did the
participant adequately reflect what was done differently to make the lecture successful?
Some improvement needed (detailed below)

Q12. Mentor comments for participant's reflection of teaching:

Alli has informally reflected on her teaching experiences and made improvements throughout the course of her
residency, but has not yet written any reflections down. We discussed different strategies to incorporate reflections over
longitudinal experiences to meet the requirements for her IPTeC portfolio. No concerns present.

Q13. Portfolio Organization:

Is the portfolio organized in a clear and concise manner at this time?
Portfolio not yet compiled but discussed required components to complete certificate

Q14. Mentor comments for participant's portfolio organization:

Alli has a well-organized folder that contains all required components to complete her IPTeC portfolio. No concerns
present for Alli transitioning these components to a visually appealing and structured online portfolio.
