GUIDELINES FOR INDUSTRIAL TRAINING I (FPA 210)

PRESENTATION
INTRODUCTION

This is a guide for the preparation of the Industrial Training I (FPA 210) Presentation for the Faculty of
Plantation and Agrotechnology, UiTM Pahang. It covers basic information on the requirements and
expectations of the presentation.

PRESENTATION DETAILS

• All students are required to present on his/her Industrial Training on the new semester after they
have completed their training. The dates and schedule of the presentation will be announced.
• The presentation will be conducted in a group, maximum 3 person/group.
• The language used: English.
• A presentation of not more than ten (10) minutes is required for each group. A five (5) to ten (10)
minutes Q & A session will be conducted after the presentation.
• All students are required to attend presentations of their colleagues. For the students of the same
session, it is compulsory to remain in the venue and listen to all presentations until the end of the
session. Students are required to attend the presentations of the other session as well.
• Presentation is strictly formal.

FORMAT OF THE INDUSTRIAL TRAINING PRESENTATION

Students are required to prepare a PowerPoint presentation of not more than eight (8) main slides.
Additional slides with photos (Appendices) can be attached and do not count into the eight slides
mentioned. Students are encouraged to use minimal words in their slides.

The eight (8) main slides should include:


1. Title Page / Cover – This page should include the following information: title, full name of student,
matric number, industrial training place / organization and group, duration of industrial training and
date of presentation. Figure 1 below shows the layout of this page.

2. Contents – As shown in the Figure 2 (above).

3. Introduction – A brief explanation of Industrial Training I (FPA 210) Course that includes
Introduction, Industrial Training Objectives, etc.

4. Company / Organizational Background – A brief introduction to company structure is


recommended as follows:
i) Organizational History
ii) Organizational structure and hierarchy
iii) Other important details; i.e. Location, map, etc. (not more than three (3) pages)
Students are advised to seek advice from the company’s representative before writing this page in
order to prevent conflicts or leaking of a company’s information.

5. Summary of Tasks – This section consists of summary of tasks according to the weeks and activities
carried out from the beginning until the end of Industrial Training (6-7 weeks). Any absence during
the training must be recorded and explained. Supporting documents or letter; i.e. Medical
Certificate should be included in the appendix.

6. Work Experience / Technical Contents – This section focuses on jobs/tasks or work performed
during training. If there are many tasks or parts that need to be stated in the presentation, it can be
broken down into sub-related topics. All reports in the sub-topic must be explained in details
(materials and equipment / procedures / costing etc.) and aided with related diagrams, tables or
pictures.

7. Conclusion – This section summarizes the whole contents of the report presentation and matters
pertain to Industrial Training. This is important since students give an overall significant of summary
about the Industrial Training. It should include:
i) The experience and knowledge attained
ii) Problems / Limitations
iii) Opinions and suggestions

8. References – The students should prepare a list of references if any relevant information of sources
were used as references in the preparation of the report.

9. Appendices – Any extra information to support the main text may be included as appendix.

***Figures / tables – All figures and tables included in the report must be properly labelled and
explained.

POWERPOINT SLIDES (DO AND DON’T)

➢ Use appropriate clear fonts that are easy to read (i.e. Arial, Calibri).

➢ Font size: At least 24, preferably 28. If smaller than 24 needed, lowest is 18 but in bold.

➢ Don’t include too much text in the slide. Write in point form, not complete sentences.

➢ Use a color of the font that contrasts sharply with the background.

➢ Use backgrounds which are light.
