Dear Mrs. Dunlap,

I would like to inform you that I am resigning from my position as an employee in the Marketing Department,
effective Thursday, May 23.

Reflecting on my experience in this role, I am immensely grateful for the numerous opportunities for growth
and learning. One big goal I had for the second semester was to become more of a leader. Although I did not
get a leadership role, I felt that I could still put myself in a position to lead. I also wanted to learn more about
QuickBooks, as I could see myself using it in the future, but we did not use QuickBooks, so I never had the
opportunity to learn it. I hope to learn how to use it in the future, especially since one of my majors is
accounting. The area where I fell short the most was in not taking on any leadership roles. I was passed over
for the next set of promotions and felt discouraged to pursue further leadership opportunities as there were
little to no opportunities in the second semester after the promotions. This taught me a valuable life lesson: I
now know to push hard for a leadership role and not take no for an answer. If at first, I do not succeed, I will
try my hardest to make things work because I am the right person for a leadership role.

The area where I encountered the greatest success was in collaboration. Working closely with my people
throughout the firm on various projects, we developed a strong sense of camaraderie and mutual support. I
would always be able to ask people questions and they knew they could ask me for help. One notable project
was our social media campaign. Although I was not in marketing, people from other branches were able to
come together and make what I like to call a masterpiece. This success was a direct result of our effective
teamwork and communication.

However, not all experiences were smooth sailing. I faced significant frustration while managing time-sensitive
tasks during peak periods. During the semester there were weeks where many assignments fell on the same
day or cluster of days. I would have to work overtime to get my tasks done in an efficient and quality manner.
This challenge taught me the importance of time management and prioritization. By learning to break down
tasks and set realistic deadlines, I became more efficient and less stressed, ultimately improving my
productivity.
To next year’s VE employees, I offer this advice: prioritize communication and build strong relationships with
your team members. These connections are crucial for successful collaboration. Additionally, do not be afraid
to take risks and embrace innovative ideas. Failure is a part of the learning process, and each setback is an
opportunity to grow and improve.

My greatest takeaway from this course is the unique, hands-on experience that has significantly shaped my
professional skills. Nowhere else could I have gained such a comprehensive understanding of the business
world, from financial documents and analysis to the execution of pricing and selecting our collections cars.

Sincerely,

Logan Bova
