Abstract

The development of autonomous driving technology has become a fundamental aspect of modern
transportation engineering, offering exceptional levels of safety and efficiency on our roads. This
thesis aims to create and incorporate Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) designed
explicitly for real-time use in autonomous vehicles. This research aims to close the gap between
theoretical developments and practical implementation by focusing on crucial ADAS features,
including object identification, speed estimation, traffic sign recognition, lane detection, and lane-
keeping assistance. The study focuses on developing strong and efficient solutions that can work
smoothly in real-world driving situations using advanced deep-learning algorithms and sensor
fusion approaches. The crucial factor for the success of this undertaking lies in prioritizing real-
time processing capabilities. The ADAS systems created are customized to fulfil strict latency
requirements, enabling prompt and responsive decision-making in dynamic driving scenarios
through careful optimization and hardware-accelerated implementations. The thesis also discusses
the difficulties that arise while deploying real-time ADAS, such as computational limitations,
sensor noise reduction, and surroundings' heterogeneity. The suggested ADAS systems are
thoroughly assessed for their performance, reliability, and scalability by utilizing both simulated
and real-world driving data. This evaluation process establishes a solid foundation for the practical
integration of these solutions into autonomous vehicle platforms. This research ultimately
enhances the progress of autonomous driving technology by providing a clear plan for developing
and incorporating real-time ADAS systems. The knowledge obtained from this study is positioned
to stimulate innovation in the field, leading to the development of safer, more efficient, and fully
autonomous transportation systems in the future.
