METHOD OF STATEMENT

FOR CEILING WORKS

A. MATERIALS:

1. Secondary support 7. Furring channel


2. Hanger rod 8. Wall angle
3. Rod joiner 9. Blind rivets
4. Suspension clip 10. Concrete nail
5. Carrying channel 11. Gypsum board
6. Wall clip 12. Gypsum screw

B. TOOLS & EQUIPMENTS:

c. Survey equipments f. Rivet fastener

C. INSPECTION:

a. Check for the brand and dimension of the materials to that of the given
specifications.
b. Check for straightness of the wall angles and secondary ceiling. It
should also be properly leveled so as to avoid unnecessary curvatures on
the gypsum board when the latter is installed.
c. Check for the anchors.
d. The frame should not wave when pushed.
e. Check for the presence of the necessary electrical wirings and fixtures
prior to fixing of the gypsum board.
f. Check for the deformations on the gypsum board prior to fixing.
g. Check the locations of the necessary cut-outs for the utilities (electrical
and plumbing installations).
h. Spacing of metal furring must be 0.4-0.6 meter apart.
i. Spacing of screws shall be from 200mm to 300mm on centers.
j. Finished paint should not show any joint line.

D. EXECUTION:

CEILING INSTALLATION

1. Fix and align accurately all steel angles at the maximum


interval of 1.20 meters.
2. Tie the suspension rod to the steel angle.
3. Attach the carrying channel to the suspension clip then use
the rod joiner to connect the suspension rod to suspension clip.
4. Attach the metal furring to the carrying channel at right angle
to each other using the furring clips.
5. Ceiling boards are attached to the metal framing by drywall
screw.
6. Seal up the joints of Gypsum Boards with putty, then joint
tape and then putty.
7. Apply paint.

F. SAFETY MEASURES:

1. Barricades area where equipment is in operation.


2. Equipment to be used should be in good condition and has sufficient
supply of fuel.
3. Heavy equipment operators and rigger men must be skilled and they
should have teamwork to avoid accidents.
4. Protective personal equipment as hardhat, safety shoes, gloves and safety
belts for working at high elevations should be used at all times.
