Exam Structure
Your Citizenship exam is 45 minutes long.
There are five sections to the exam.

Section A – Multiple choice


Section B – Short answer questions.
Section C – Source based questions
Section D - Look at two given terms, explain how Term A differs to Term B.
Section E – Extended response questions using the following structure

• Your Thesis/Opinion (1 mark)


• Give one supported reason WHY you have your view. Make a clear point, explain the point
and give an example to support your thinking. (3 marks)
• Give one supported reason WHY somebody may disagree with your view. Try to counter
your point directly. Make a clear point, ensure you explain the point and give an example
to support your thinking. (3 marks)
• Give one supported additional reason WHY you have your view. Make a clear point,
ensure you explain the point and give an example to support your thinking. Try to
challenge your disagree paragraph. (3 marks)
• Conclusion Sum up – give your opinion and final judgement
