MESSAGE FROM CHANCELLOR

“LEADERS OF REVA UNIVERSITY WILL RULE THE WORLD”

At REVA University we nurture student community, as we have realized learning should be

continuous, and cross all borders. Hence, REVA University adopted the mission to make
learning unlimited. Our driving principle ‘Learning Unlimited’ is empowered with the
adoption of technology.

As we have seen in the recent past, technology in education is not just an enabler, but a
necessary medium, and the crisis in the Education sector during the pandemic helped us all
understand the importance of virtual learning.

Going forward, digital-first is an approach every University must adopt, and I am happy to
share that much before in 2016 REVA University laid a roadmap to be a technology-driven
university. Our early preparedness helped us in transition from offline to online learning.
Now, Blended Learning is the way forward and is the biggest enabler of seamless learning.
Our core vision remains to change the way students learn from traditional learning
methodologies and we are happy to adapt and adopt technological changes.

The ecosystem at REVA University is not only tech-centered but is developed in such a way
that it contributes to the overall development of a student.

Student Entrepreneurs- Backbone of Nation’s Economy

Dr. Nitu Ghosh,

Director, SOM,
REVA University, Bengaluru

Entrepreneurship and innovation is the key to the economic development of a country. The various
government initiatives and schemes like ‘Start-Up India’ initiative started by the government of India
in 2015 and ‘Make in India’ campaign launched by Prime Minister, Sri. Narendra Modi in September
2014 as part of a wider set of nation-building initiatives was devised to transform India into a global
design and manufacturing hub and strengthen the indigenous market to withstand the challenges of
the Global market. This vision has been realized today to a greater extent with India been ranked as a
hub of successful start-ups and Unicorns. All initiatives and efforts of our country in branding itself
as Self-reliant “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” have been successful in garnering an incredible response from
the promising young entrepreneurs.
However, the gap lies in exploring the entrepreneurial talent sitting within academia that is still
untapped. With academic league tables focusing more on employability and filling up their placement
charts than entrepreneurship it is perhaps not that surprising that few students are given the support
needed to turn their ideas into reality. The Skill India movement along with the Start Up campaign
acts as a strong concoction for the nurturing of successful entrepreneurs straight from the institutional
incubation cells. Creation of an effective start-up ecosystem therefore depends upon a strong
interaction between the industry, academia, investors, entrepreneurs and government. The present day
need is to focus upon this need and highlight the recent developments in strengthening the incubation
centers in the academic institutes and universities to nurture more entrepreneurs. It is crucial to assess
and boost the entrepreneurial intent, creative thinking and idea generation among Engineering and
management students at Undergraduate level and Post-graduate level towards entrepreneurship and
assess their emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence plays a significant role in the initiation,
risk-taking, creative and entrepreneurial acumen of students, which definitely should be developed
and enhanced through the academic curricula and various co-curricular activities. Idea labs should be
established in education institutes to harness creative talent and develop the mushrooming bed for
ideas. Incubation centre should act as a nest for such ideas and facilitate students to develop them as
innovative entrepreneurs.
With this motive School of Management Studies has been instrumental in launching program on
entrepreneurship and offering education, support, mentoring and incubation for our student
entrepreneurs. Students get incubated in the REVA NEST, incubation centre of REVA University and
later fly off as independent entrepreneurs with high emotional intelligence, aspirations and
achievements.

Bangalore has been known as the silicon megacity for

years now, as it is the hub for IT Companies in the
country, presently, the city is called the Start-up
capital of India. With Prime Minister Narendra Modi
emphasizing on his “Make in India” project, the city
has grown many crowds by casing 7000+ Start-ups in
the country. As per a report by NASSCOM, India is
the third biggest Start-up hub in the world after the
USA and China. We have added over 1200 Start-ups
to the list in 2018 alone! Investment-wise the country
is in a good position too. The report suggests 100%
growth from 2017 to last year, as USD 4.3 billion was
obtained between January to September last year. As per the same NASSCOM report, Start-
ups have created around 40,000 + direct job opportunities last year and around 1.6 to 1.7
lakhs of indirect jobs.

Previous few years, Bangalore has created a lot of job openings for people across the nation.
Earlier people crowded to Bangalore for the IT opportunities available in the city. But now
the city is getting famous for being the birthplace of Start-ups and the city is giving way to
youthful entrepreneurs. The favourable weather, work culture, location and talented IT

professional in the city has made it a huge among businesses. Indeed, huge players in the
market have shifted their operations to Bangalore. They have expanded for the both B2B and
B2C Start-ups.

The city has been troubling free for growing entrepreneurs to avail the resources required to
run a business quicker, as the market in terms of manpower and raw materials is vast in
Bangalore. This also a motherland to a few of the top/ successful Start-ups in the country.
That includes companies such as Flipkart, Zoom car, Ola, BigBasket, Myntra, Swiggy,
Freshmenu, Dunzo etc. Each of these innovative Start-ups is changing the world in their own
ways to make it better and easier for their customers.

We’ll cut our wrists if parents scold, we’ll hang ourselves for marks
And if a friend betrays us, our body would be full of scars
The almighty above us, who’s weeping at our deeds.
Thinking what went wrong what else did we need?

That guiding angle’s GIFT (gift of life), for which all the worlds fight
We were the ones chosen to give our master plight
The loving mother’s kiss, the silent father’s smile
The little sister’s mischief, the elder brother’s shine
All die down in a moments’ time

Only if we believed in ourselves, and on the divine father above

The world would’ve been a better place, only to love…….

The Most Inspiring Teachers You Had

Neeraj Mukesh Somaiya

Alumni, SOM, REVA University

Have you ever wondered what makes a great teacher? While there are many factors that contribute
to effective teaching, one of the most important is the ability to inspire and motivate students. One
way to achieve this is using inspirational quotes. In this article we'll explore the power of
inspirational quotes in teaching and provide some examples of inspirational quotes from famous
teachers.
WHAT IS INSPIRATIONAL TEACHING?

Inspirational teaching is a style of teaching that encourages students to think critically and to
strive for excellence in their studies. It is based on the belief that all students can reach their full
potential if they are provided with the right tools and support. Inspirational teaching is about
creating a positive learning environment where students feel empowered and motivated to learn.

BENEFITS OF INSPIRATIONAL TEACHING

There are many benefits of inspirational teaching, both for teachers and students. For teachers,
inspirational teaching can help to build a strong relationship with students and create a more
positive learning environment. For students, inspirational teaching can help to foster a sense of
empowerment and motivation. It can also help to boost self-esteem and confidence and explore
their interests.

INSPIRATIONAL QUOTES FROM FAMOUS TEACHERS

"If you want to be successful, it is important to have an open mind, be willing to learn, and
to never give up."-Stephen Hawking
 "Be the change you want to see in the world."-Mahatma Gandhi
 "The most valuable thing you can give someone is your time."-Oprah Winfrey
EXAMPLES OF INSPIRATIONAL TEACHING STRATERGIES
There are many strategies that teachers can use to incorporate inspirational quotes into their
teaching. Here are some examples of strategies that teachers can use:

 Introducing a quote at the beginning of a lesson to set the tone and focus of the lesson.
 Using quotes as writing prompts for journaling or creative writing.
 Incorporating quotes into discussions about important topics or concepts.
 Inviting students to identify quotes that are meaningful to them.
In conclusion I would say that teachers are the labors who builds the best foundation of a
building(student) which is the most important, without having a good root a plant cannot survive
for a long time in the forest (real life world) which is full of competition, teachers play a very big
role in the student’s life.

MANAGEMENT PULSE-2023 Vol.-001

If you ask me, what is life?

yotshna Saikam

It is,
A chance to fall and stand
A choice to pick an attitude
A blessing to help needy
A path towards death
A ray towards hope
A slap on mistakes
A trophy for overcoming hidden fears
A blueprint to the question, "Why me?"
A tear we shed in pain of loved one's
A smile when we do a kind deed
A temporary role in someone's life
A part in breathing continuously until death
A weapon when you live right
A curse when you planned to hurt true hearts
A home when you find the right partner

One life- choose wise

It's easy to live with the past, but it's difficult to forgive yourself and accept that it has
shaped you into the best version of yourself.
It's easy to blame the person who hurts you, but it's difficult to accept the truth that
you gave them the opportunity to hurt you.
It's easy to be rude to people, but it's difficult to recognize it and apologize to them.
It's easy to unfriendly a genuine human being, but it's difficult to find someone with
the same vibe.
It's easy to disrespect your parents at times, but it's difficult to face them when you
open your eyes.
It's easy to underestimate people, but it's difficult to know where you stand in terms of
being an empathy-bound soul.
It's easy to be unkind to the poor, but it's difficult to live a day like that in real life.
It's easy to hate someone who is better than you, but it's difficult to grow up to their
standards.
It's easy to advise people to change, but it's difficult to accept when they do the same.
To what extent are we making life easy and difficult?
Hardship always makes you stronger. They never leave you alone if you don't have
anyone to wipe your tears. So choose things that may seem hard but will make you a
better person; after all, all of our hard work, deeds, and decisions in life are for a
peaceful death.

It’s been a dynamic world, where in change is the only constant. GenZ, being the
21st century teenagers have lot to explore and experience. On click they have world
to travel, experience and explore. Smart skills, highly enthusiastic and tech savvy
approach is the key of their success. Open mindedness, adaptability and
collaborations are limit-less. Which possibility taking them away from Traditions
and cultures. Their inclination towards self –improvement and their self-centric
approach is beyond milliners. This all leads to less emotional dependency and
connect with family and friends. By and large, their life has become more
independent by addiction to technology. They rely on Technology for all their social
and emotional requirements. The latest social trend is leading the GenZ towards
loneliness. Though they are connected 24/7, yet their self-esteem is declining day
by day.

Keeping away from Technology is the New Mantra .Vipassana Meditation in one of

Time has changed. This change is not only with regard to technology but in our basic
relationships too. Parents are the base of any society. Present generation look forward
to more freedom and liberation, whereas the old generation looked forward to their
parents for all kind of emotional, social and physical support. It varies from country to
country, culture to culture and also family to family. Friendly approach of parents is
the need of the hours of new generation. Moreover they many times only focus on
mother’s love and attention and probably ignore the silent contribution of the father.

“Mother carries the child on her lap – to show him the path forward”

“Father carries the child on his shoulders – to show him the path unknown – the
vision”

“A son's first hero, a daughter's first love”
