The Impacts of Cyberbullying on Teenagers

Cyberbullying, which happens online is a big worry for teenagers nowadays because of

many of them use digital devices a lot. Cyberbullying can hurt teenagers feelings and make

them feel sad,scared and even think about hurting themselves(Hinduja & Patchin,2010;

Kowalski et Al.,2014). Because the internet is always available, cyberbullying can feels like

it's never-ending,which makes it even worse for those being bullied. Moreover, people can

hide behind screens,so they might say a meaner things than they would in person(Smith et

Al.,2008;Slonje & Smith,2008).This literature review examines the impacts of cyberbullying

onteenagers life.

THE IMPACTS OF CYBERBULLYING ON TEENAGERS LIFE

Cyberbullying really messes with teenagers lives everyday. Cyberbullying makes

the victim feel super stressed, anxious and sad every day (Hinduja & Patchin,2010; Kowalski

et Al.,2014). Because they're scared of being bullied online,they might avoid hanging out with

friends or even skip school altogether (Tokunaga,2010;Hinduja & Patchin,2010).It also messes

up their school stuff.They can't focus on their studies because they're so upset about what is

happening online (Zimmerman et Al.,2015) and it doesn't stop there cyberbullying can make

teenagers feel really lonely and disconnected from their friends and family (Slonje &

Smith,2008).So, cyberbullying doesn't just hurt teenagers feelings it also messes with

their whole lives,making it harder to learn hang out with friends and feel good about

themselves.We need to find ways to stop it and help teenagers who are going through it.

IMPACTS ON SOCIAL LIFE

Cyberbullying significantly impacts teenagers social lives ,causing feelings of

loneliness and exclusion from peer groups. Victims often avoid hanging out with friends,both

online and in person,to escape bullying (Tokunaga,2010; Hinduja & Patchin,2010).This make

friendship tough and feel like they don't fit in. Moreover, cyberbullying can damage trust and

intimacy in friendships as victim may become reluctant to share personal information or

engage in social activities due to fear of being targeted (Slonje & Smith,2008). This can make

friendship strained and make them feel disconnected. Overall, cyberbullying disrupts teenagers

social lives by undermining their social connections and sense of belonging.

IMPACTS ON TEENAGERS ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE

Cyberbullying also impacts teenagers academic performance. Studies show that

victims often struggle to concentrate on their schoolwork and may even skip classes due to the

emotional toll of cyberbullying (Hinduja & Patchin,2010; Zimmerman at all,.2015).This can

lead to lower grades and it make it harder for them

to succeed in school. Additionaly, cyberbullying bullying can make it tough for teenagers to

participate in class and interact with their classmates, which affects their learning and overall

academic achievement (Kowalski et Al.,2014).The constant worry and about being bullied

online can create a negative atmosphere for learning, making it harder for teenagers to do well

in school.

IMPACTS ON TEENAGERS HEALTH

Cyberbullying really affects teenagers health. It can make them super stressed,

anxious,and sad which can lead to headaches and stomachaches(Hinduja & Patchin,2010;

Kowalski et Al.,2014). It also messes with their sleep, making them feel tired all the time.

Moreover, cyberbullying can make teenagers feel bad about themselves which can lead to

problems like not eating right or using drugs or alcohol to cope ( Tokunaga,2010). It can also

make existing mental health issues worse or cause new ones.

Conclusion

Cyberbullying is really harmful for teenagers.It can make them feel really bad

and struggle in school(Hinduja & Patchin,2010; Kowalski et al.,2014).Numerous studies

highlight the detrimental effects of cyberbullying on teenagers, including

negative impacts on mental health and academic performance (Anderson et Al.,2018; Smith &

Jones,2019). Intervention strategies are crucial to address cyberbullying and safeguard the well

being of teenagers in digital environments(Garcia et al.,2017).At last in order to stop

cyberbullying, schools need rules,kids must learn about staying safe online, parents should talk

with their children, everyone should be nice online and technology can help when

cyberbullying happens(Smith & Brown,2019;Garcia et al.,2020). Smith(2020)suggest that

further research is needed to fully comprehend the complexities of cyberbullying and develop

more targeted prevention and intervention efforts.
