REFRIGERATING AIR DRYER CONTROLLER

EN SERIAL COMUNICATION INSTRUCTIONS

2018-02
DMC50 PC CONNECTION -EN-
Ed. 2018-02 pag 2 of 8

This is just an Addenda to the standard manual for the special feature/setting only.
For any safety, installation, operation information refers to the standard manual.

This Addenda is applicable only to Variable Speed dryers equipped with DANFOSS
compressor inverters.

1.0 WHERE TO WIRE THE SERIAL PORT

1.1 SERIAL COMMUNICATION
The DMC50 features an RS485 serial port (see connector DATA on Pic.1) allowing the connection to a network
managed by a PC or PLC controller.
Connector with 1.5 m cable is available as accessory # FC04-15D01 (see Pic.2).

Be aware that if the fieldbus is used, is mandatory to install a galvanic isolator

between the DMC50 and the communication network,
in order to guarantee the DMC50 safety, and prevent any current discharge.

Pic. 1 Pic. 2

If a PC is used, the connection between the PC and the DMC50 network requires installation of an interface adaptor
(can be purchased as accessory) to convert the RS485 signal into RS232 or USB.
The RS485 line is made of a two wire cable and can be up to max. 2000 meters long; use shielded twisted
polyethylene cable for distances exceeding 100m.
Wire a 120 ohm ¼ W resistor at the RS485 network end.

1.2 PROTOCOL
The protocol used for communication is MODICON MODBUS 1 (MB1), only functions 03 supported.
Data are exchanged in ASCII 7bit mode with the following format:

Baudrate : 9600 Data bit : 7 Stop bit : 1 Parity : EVEN
