INDIVIDUAL CUSTOMER INTERVIEW

SUBMITTED BY: HERCULES L. DEGOLLADO JR.

NAME OF INTERVIEWEE: SOFIA MANTOLINO

CONTACT NUMBER / FACEBOOK NAME: SOFIA MANTOLINO
AGE: 21 YEARS OLD
OCCUPATION: STUDENT
ADDRESS: PANAYUNAN, CANDELARIA, ZAMBALES
TYPE OF INTERVIEW USED: VIRTUAL INTERVIEW

INTERVIEW QUESTIONS:
1) Do you live in a remote area?
ANSWER: Not really, but I live near a farm and a river.
2) Have you experienced having trouble accessing potable water?
ANSWER: No, but there is a problem with the water.
3) If you have, when and in what way? (If not, skip this question.)
ANSWER: As someone who lived near a river, I noticed that although the water was easily
accessible, the scent and taste of the river infiltrated the water.
4) Were you not afraid of the health risks that consuming water from those reservoirs might bring you?
ANSWER: I wasn't worried back then because my parents grew up using this water and nothing
awful ever happened to them.
5) What can you say if a portable solar water pump will be installed in a water reservoir near your
community back then, then it will be connected to your house where an alternative filtration system
will be placed?
ANSWER: That was a smart concept, and having safe, clean water will benefit not only us but also
the rest of our neighborhood, reducing any potential risks, particularly for young children.
6) Given that you liked the idea of having the mentioned product which is a portable solar water pump
and water purifier, what do you think will be the setbacks of having this equipment? (If not, skip
this question.)
ANSWER: There is, in my opinion, absolutely no disadvantage to that proposal; the safety of
everyone, especially children, should be the top priority.
7) Do you think that making this product will benefit people more than having setbacks?
ANSWER: Yes, it will ease the concerns of those who use the water on a daily basis.
8) Other than the setbacks you have mentioned a while ago, are there any more problems you can
think of about the equipment?
ANSWER: None.
INTERPRETATIONS AND FINDINGS:
1) The interviewee does not live in a remote area.
2) Even though the interviewee does not live in a remote area, she also experienced trouble accessing
potable water. This shows that even if you live in a not-so-remote area, there is a possibility of
having trouble obtaining potable water too.
3) During her childhood days, the community the interviewee belonged to got water from wells and
other water sources. This is still happening to other people up to this day, commonly in remote
areas.
4) The interviewee was not aware of the risks that consuming water directly from water sources
brings. This is also applicable to people who are in the same situation as her. Even adults may lack
knowledge about those things too especially if they weren’t thought about it.
5) The interviewee likes the idea of the potential product being installed in her past community. This
demonstrates the possible response of target consumers to the product.
6) The interviewee thinks that having such equipment will make people lazy. Rather than being called
lazy, it is more proper to call it “utilizing technology”. Technology is there for us to utilize and
make our lives easier. Moreover, more comfortable.
7) The interviewee thinks that the benefits will be greater than the negative effects if this product is out
for use. This shows that even though there are setbacks, the benefits that the customers will obtain
upon purchasing will be greater.
8) The interviewee thinks that it will be hard to maintain the product. Such as when it needs repairs
and others. This shows that the potential product might cause trouble to customers if ever it breaks
or gets out of order.

RECOMMENDATIONS / POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS:

1) If this product is put into the market, the creator together with his team should make a detailed
manual of the product, together with the do’s and don’ts so that the customers will be informed
about it.
2) Translations of manual to native languages that the locals are using where the product is being sold
can help people who are not knowledgeable enough about other languages. This will help them
comprehend the manual more.
3) If this product is made, and put into the market, the creators should have a quarterly monitoring
team to see and assess whether the product is functioning well and doing what it is supposed to do.
Doing this may also lead to developments of the product which will definitely be more beneficial to
future customers.
