THE USE
1. The rule to change the adjective ending
o Two-syllable adjectives ending in -y are considered short adjectives: happy, busy, lazy,
easy….
o When comparing more, change -y to -i and then add -er; in the superlative change -y to –I
and then add -est
Ex: She is busier than me.
This is the easiest exercise in the test.
2 Rule of emphasis by complement
The superlative can be modified with "much" or using the cum from "by far".
o The superlative can be emphasized by adding almost (almost); much (many); quite
(relative); by far/ far (a lot) before the comparative form
o Most when used with the meaning very (very) does not have the before and does not
imply comparison
Ex: He is the smartest by far.
3. The superlative superlative forms of some special adjectives
❖ Note: the difference in meaning between the comparative forms of the adjective far
o To express comparisons about longer distances, we can use further or farther

o S + BE + ADV …

occurs.

100% Always I always study after class 30% Occasionally I occasionally go to bed
late
90% Usually I usually walk to school
10% Seldom I seldom angry
80% Normally I normally get good marks
5% Hardly ever I hardly ever cry
70% Often I often drink water
0% Never I never hit my girl
50% Sometimes I sometimes sing in the class
SECTION 3
I play a lot of sports like football, basketball, ... but my favorite sport is boxing.
Unlike other sports, boxing is a direct confrontation sport between 2 boxers.
When participating in a boxing match, even though they are not professional, they
both need absolute concentration. This sport has and does not require too much
exercise equipment, 1 pair of shoes and 1 pair of gloves are the basic things you
need to practice this subject. It sounds quite strange right because boxing is the
only sport on the ring that uses shoes. People may think that boxing only focuses
on the arms, but in fact, the legs are a very important part of this sport. We have
to practice foot movements with the same frequency as fist exercises. Boxing
practice not only helps me train physically, but it also helps me improve myself
mentally and personality. This is truly a sport that everyone should try whether
you are male or female.
