Prologue
The Emerald Siren had been out to sea for over a month. The
Tempest Sea was a hostile place for a ship alone, but Jace had come
to realize that Ana and her crew possessed a number of advantages
over other crews. The thirty-two-woman crew of this pirate ship all
held a minimum of five levels in the professional Class Sailor. The
bonuses that they had on board a ship were tremendously valuable,
related to the sea, Kit spent her time throwing up over the side. His
poor Smoke Knife suffered seasickness, and Ana claimed that only
time would cure the affliction. Jace did his best to console her, but
deadly crew. The pair battled all over the ship, anywhere they could
find room, and Jace often joined in—the sparring was good for his
demon, but the pair had had a head start on their combat training,
sight from the Warlord's navy. Saltwater's Weep claimed every island
within a week's sail of their harbor, and they had the navy to back
up that ruling. Their territory stopped before the northern ice plains
began, yet Jace had no desire to compete with the goblins and orcs
of the tundra. Sailing south led to a thick band of jungles and then
vast desert of red rock, blasted by the sun and filled with venomous
creatures.
No one sailed so far to the east. The Tempest Wall drew a line
across the horizon, and no one survived traveling through it. The
storms were an endless hurricane. Magic users said the storm was
so powerful even divination magic couldn't see within it—it was
new home. They saw other ships on the sea, and they were a pirate
vessel. There was no reason the crew of the Emerald Siren couldn’t

The cry from the crow’s nest brought Jace’s gaze up and
on his XP progression since they’d put out to sea. The Quests hadn’t
been overly rewarding, but he had grown steadily. Killing the sea
monsters that attacked the ship had provided most of it.

he realized that, once again, most of them were eyeing him. Even
the ones who didn’t care for men were giving him a stare after a
month at sea. Ana’s enthusiastic screaming in his cabin didn’t help
that, and Jace found a grin crossing his lips. “You know, you don’t
make it easy for them to ignore me when you’re screaming my name
at night.”
She rolled her eyes and let out a breath with a laugh. “Most of

Jace took a moment to try and figure out if she was joking or
not, but in the end, it didn’t matter. Their ship had drawn close
enough to the one they pursed that, just as Ana said, a Quest

of Saltwater’s Weep, he’d known absolutely nothing about sailing—
politely.
“Aye Aye, Master.” Ana licked her lips provocatively and hip
bumped him again as he turned to go. Then she slapped his ass,
causing the crew to burst into laughter and catcalls. Jace rolled his
eyes as he headed below deck to the chamber where they had set

they used the pocket dimension within. Now they had a solid space
to work in—and Kit had a haven that didn’t rock with the sea. She
had taken to spending most of her time in there. Jace couldn’t blame
her; feeding the fish was not a pleasant pastime.
The hardest part had been finding a room they could place the
forge in without it removing the entrance to an important area of the
ship. Finally, Ana had ordered the cook to clear out a small storage
room they had used for water barrels. Those barrels lay stacked
along the back wall of the galley and had been roped into place. The

moisture. The forge smelled of iron, smoke, and coal. The air was
hot and dry, and it felt like home each time he stepped within.
His goal was to craft a sword that suited Rem Dovi: designed
for her fighting style and befitting her beauty. She used sweeping

weapon a dao. The blade widened out along its single edge and had
a slight curve to its spine. The front-heavy blade meant the tip had

her ability to use a shield since the weapon might throw her rhythm
off. Fortunately, they had time to practice.
Kit rested on a padded chair they had placed in the forge. She
lay curled up in the chair, her head back on the cushions and a soft
snore escaping her lips. He couldn’t help but smile at her as he went
over to set the temperature for the forge. He had prepared the steel,
but he needed to reheat the bar so he could start drawing the blade
into its full width while giving it the curve. He also wanted to make
hammer, though, he went to Kit and picked up her limp tail, then
tickled her nose with the tip. A mischievous smile grew on his lips as
he flicked the tip back and forth across her face. He saw her
features crinkle, and she tried to squirm away. It was adorable, and
he shifted to extend his arm so he could keep tickling her without
of surprise before sitting bolt upright in her chair. “Imp, you dick-
faced jackass!”
and put the anvil between them, his eyes glinting. She flickered out
them around before crushing her against himself and twisting to put
her up against the cold iron. A shiver passed through her frame
when she realized she was trapped against the metal. She let out a
little mewl of desire and bit her lower lip as he watched her face.
He snorted and shook his head. She may have been a Smoke
Knife now, but she would always be a Thief. When he rolled his eyes
at her, she sighed at him. “You don’t get to laugh at me—you still

She bent her back and pulled herself over the anvil with a
smooth motion, rolling up and twisting to land on her feet after her
backward somersault. Jace found the move impressive, especially
approved. The fact that she raised her middle finger to flip him off
and then stuck out her tongue, though—that just made him laugh.
His eyes sparkled as he took her in. She had dressed in one of his
spare shirts, and it hung down her frame like a long-sleeved dress.
“You do look beautiful. Why don’t you go sit back in that chair and
Her eyes came to life at the challenge, and she licked her lips.
Her nimble fingers began undoing the laces that closed the top of
the shirt, opening them enough for it to fall open to the middle of
her cleavage. Kit backed up and perched in the chair, then slowly
draped one leg over each side and leaned into the soft padding. She
had a husky tone to her voice as she teased him, “Like this?”
Kit flushed under the praise; for all of her foul mouth, she was
blush and squirm as she started running her hands from her knees
to her thighs, then slowly pushed up the dove-gray fabric while she
stared at him.
Jace resolutely turned back to his forge and picked up the steel
billet he was going to be shaping into the blade. He did his best to
ignore Kit as she ran her hands lower to caress her inner thighs. She
lifted the tip of her tail and started to suck on it, and all he could do
was shiver as he used the tongs to plunge the metal into the flames.
The magic of the forge meant the bellows pumped at the rate
he had set; the perfect temperature control alone made the forge
worth it in his mind. He’d spent seven years pumping the bellows at
Rourke’s and knew how hard it was to keep the flames at just the
right heat. Those thoughts flew out of his head when he heard a
moan. Jace turned and saw Kit arched in her chair—looking closer,
he realized the minx had slid her tail down between her thighs and
where it vanished into her tight little ass. She gasped and twitched
as she teased her perky rear with the appendage. Her toes curled at
the sensation, and her smoldering eyes made it clear who she was
imagining. She used her fingers to part her pink folds teasingly, then
stared at him in hunger. Her hips slowly rocked as she made her
belly undulate beneath the soft shirt. He swallowed, and for a
breasts heaved, and—where had she gotten the water to wet down
her shirt? he wondered. Her nipples stood out under the damp fabric
sharply, and she had one finger gliding in circles around her bud as
anvil, then bounced to strike him on his thigh. He bit back a curse as
he jumped back in pain—fortunately, he managed to let go of the
tongs holding his blade so it didn’t flex on the anvil. Jace’s hand
rubbed his thigh as he looked over at her and gave her a mock
glower. Kit had a jubilant expression on her face, and she pointedly
looked down to his pants and licked her lips. His cock had already
risen to half-mast, and he shivered again as he swallowed. His
mouth was dry, and his hands twitched.
trigger his demonic buff and restore his lost HP. The only thing
keeping him from scooping Kit up and making her scream was his
enjoyment of looking at her. Jace loved the way she writhed and
moaned, as well as the hitch in her hips when she hit the right spot.
He stared at that erotic twist to her face as she tweaked her nipples
at just the perfect angle to tug her breasts. Kit’s growing enjoyment
of being teased and ignored and watching him take another woman
in her place meant that looking away from her did more to arouse
her.
He drew the metal from the heat and once more began to
hammer. This time he kept his pace going, and while she mocked
him by thrusting in time with the hammer, that was harder on her.
She flushed, and her fangs showed as she bit her lower lip in
delectable agony. Her tongue licked a tiny drop of blood she’d
drawn.
spurred her on. His MP flickered and settled, and he furrowed his
brow at it. Kit screamed his name as she came, shaking on the chair.
Her small claws tore a hole in her shirt to reveal half of the lower
curve of her breast. Her nipple peaked under her fingers as she
pinched it. Her tail shuddered, pinched by her flexing ass, and he
saw the tremors pass down the athletic muscles in her legs.
to ignore it for the moment. His incubus blood churned in his veins
while he tried to focus on the blade. To say it was hard was a vast
understatement. He had to reheat the metal twice because his focus
would grow from the profane virgin he had met months ago to this
budding temptress. The idea that ignoring her would make her all
the happier gave him the strength to focus once more on the steel.
His hammer began to ring, and he saw her shifting each time she
penetrated herself with her tail. Her breathing picked up, and her
her plump mounds had mere scraps of fabric above the nipples. She
began to freely tug and pull on her little pink nubs. A thin sheen of
sweat covered her skin.
Jace found a rhythm, shifting his position to see Kit clearly out
of the corner of his eyes; then he started to pound the hot steel at a
pace he wanted to see her body rock to. The beautiful Thief
obediently used her tail to thrust into herself, gasping each time. She
squeezed her breasts and arched to the pounding metal. Her body
writhed as though she were forming a dance that he gave the beat
to. Time passed, and she grew more inflamed with passion as she
grunted and whimpered. Her need grew and grew, and he could
sense it. He could feel that arousal, all of that passion radiating from
her. It filled his nose like the scent of a fine wine. Her smoldering
eyes stared at him—whenever she could stop them from rolling up in
her head. Kit’s face radiated her devotion, her eyes demanding his
That startled him to the point that he looked down at the blade
he was forging. The blade had taken shape: a long smooth curve
with a single heavy edge and a slight extension to the tip. The steel
showed the marks of the hammer and had a dark tint to it. There
was a patina of burgundy, and when he raised it to inspect it, he saw
barrel, he saw the burgundy tint was subtle but clear. The blade
seemed to give off a hunger—a desire he felt in his loins, and he
shivered as he looked it over. His Smithing Skill hinted at the blade
Whatever her response would have been vanished into his lips
as he started kissing her, and she set to work stripping him as fast
as she could. Her body quivered with need, and her tail lashed out
to wrap around him demandingly. Jace tugged her to him and pulled
her down onto his lap as he sat in the chair for her.
She scrambled to get his pants open as she drew out his cock
and lowered herself down with a hiss of pleasure and several
her core. Jace didn’t hesitate to wrap one hand around the base of
her tail and stroke it with his thumb. His other hand cupped her
breast through the hole in her shirt, and as he teased her nipple, she
arched her back and let out a loud scream of pleasure. Her orgasm
hit far harder now that she had him within her.
with desire. His own arousal was high, coursing through his veins,
and he couldn’t help his shudder. Each time her athletic frame
slammed down onto his lap, he felt a pulse of pleasure, and each
throb grew more powerful while she drove herself wildly up and
down. Her head was tossed back, and her eyes rolled up, her pace
furious and her riding needy.
tasted her sweat, mixed with an iron tang from the forge. Her climax
tightened her down like a vise, and she screamed as she shook once
more on top of him—this time, Jace exploded within her. He groaned
out resonant sounds of pleasure when she sunk to his root then held
herself there, taking his seed deep into her body.
They both fell from their heights and clung to each other. Jace
kept his strong arms around her, embracing her to him as she
panted against his chest; then, he felt a rush of invigorating energy
flow through him. His small injury healed more rapidly thanks to the
carnal energy. He kissed Kit slowly, savoring her mouth and letting
his tongue duel hers. She stared up at him in a blissful daze,
to say.
“If you move, I will stab you,” she declared fiercely, her small
Jace just laughed as she curled tighter into his lap. Despite his
words, he had no inclination to move at the moment. He sat back,
just enjoying having her in his arms. He did want to find out what
the demonic essence in the blade would do, but he wasn’t going to
spoil this moment for anything short of a ship-to-ship battle.

the mainsail billowed with wind, even as the crew in the rigging let
