We, the Board of Directors and the teaching and
non –teaching staffs, understand how important it is

angladesh International School, Dammam
(BISD) started its journey in 1986 by the
grace of Almighty Allah and with the dedicated
efforts of the members of Bangladeshi Community
living in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia.
Thanks to the then Ambassador of Bangladesh, His
Excellency Hedayet Ahmed whose help and official
patronage enabled the school to be start on 01
February 1987. The Ambassador issued a formal
letter to include the school as an integral part of
education under the cultural wing of Bangladesh
Embassy in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Since then, the school has come a long way where it
has, at present, an intake of more than 1200 students
belonging to various nationalities like Pakistan,
Sri Lanka, Eritrea and Sudan.

B ISD follows Cambridge Checkpoint curriculum
from grade I to V specially for English, Science
and Mathematics. Grade V students can appear in
First Public Examination under the Cambridge
International Examinations. In the result card a
complete analysis of the student’s merit and
performance is given along with the grade points.

Academic Session Cambridge Secondary 1 Curriculum

T he academic session starts from July in one year

and ends in June of the preceding year and is divided
into two terms. At the beginning of the new academic
session, an academic calendar and school diary is
issued to each student, detailing the planned activities,
holidays of the academic year.
Infant Section KG I and KG II
T o get comprehensive feedback on their strengths
and weaknesses in each subject area, BISD
adopted Cambridge Secondary 1 curriculum. Stu-
dents can appear in Cambridge Secondary 1 check-
point Exam in grade VIII.
IGCSE and CIE A-Level Curriculum
B ISD follows the International General
Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) in

T he Infant Section (Kindergarten) at BISD offers

an English medium (British curriculum) education for
children between the ages of 3 and 5. The school
provides a strong foundation in conceptual skills and
a knowledge of the English language.
The first year of the Kindergarten is, for most
children, their first time away from home and family.
As such, the teachers in Kindergarten not only play
the role of teacher but also of mother, friend,
philosopher and guide. Our priorities in the Nursery
Section are to keep children safe, happy and
well-educated, and all our course objectives strive
towards this tri-curricular goal.
Grade IX and X. Students clearing at least 5 IGCSE
subjects are eligible to get admission in A-Level
which has two phases, AS-Level (Advanced Subsidi-
ary) and A2 level. A student can appear AS exam
after completion of grade XI and A2 level Exam after
completion of grade XII. If AS result is satisfactory
students can carry forward to A2 level exam at the
end of grade XII. Students can also appear A-level
exam, AS and A2 together at the end of grade XII.
