SFI SYSTEM > ECM Power Source Circuit

DESCRIPTION
When the ignition switch is turned on (IG), the battery voltage is applied to the IGSW of the ECM. The
output signal from the MREL terminal of the ECM causes a current to flow to the coil, closing the contacts
of the integration relay (EFI MAIN relay) and supplying power to either terminal +B or +B2 of the ECM.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
1.INSPECT INTEGRATION RELAY (INTEGRATION RELAY - BODY GROUND)

a. Remove the integration relay from the engine room No.


1 relay block.

b. Measure the voltage between the terminal of the


integration relay and body ground.

Standard voltage:
Specified
Tester Connection
Condition
Engine room relay block
9 to 14 V
(1C-1) - Body ground

c. Reinstall the integration relay.

REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR


NG CONNECTOR (INTEGRATION RELAY -
BATTERY)

OK

2.INSPECT INTEGRATION RELAY (EFI MAIN RELAY)

a. Remove the integration relay from the engine room relay block.

b. Inspect the EFI MAIN fuse.

i. Remove the EFI MAIN fuse from the integration relay.

ii. Measure the EFI MAIN fuse resistance.

Standard resistance:
Below 1 Ω

iii. Reinstall the EFI MAIN fuse.

c. Inspect the EFI MAIN relay.

i. Measure the EFI MAIN relay resistance.

Standard resistance:
Tester
Specified Condition

10 kΩ or higher

1C-1 - 1A-4 (Apply battery

d. Reinstall the integration relay.

NG REPLACE INTEGRATION RELAY

OK

3.CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (+B, +B2 AND MREL CIRCUIT)

a. Check the harness and the connectors between the integration relay and the ECM.

i. Remove the integration relay from the engine room No. 1 relay block.

ii. Disconnect the A12 ECM connector.

iii. Measure the resistance between the wire harness side connectors.

Standard resistance (Check for open):

b. Check the harness and the connectors between the


integration relay and body ground.

i. Measure the resistance between the wire

a. Disconnect the B32 ECM connector.

b. Measure the resistance.

5.INSPECT ECM (IGSW VOLTAGE)

a. Disconnect the B32 and A12 ECM connectors.

b. Turn the ignition switch on (IG).

c. Measure the voltage between the terminals of the B32


and A12 ECM connectors.

Standard voltage:
Specified
Tester Connection
Condition
IGSW (A12-28) - E1
9 to 14 V
(B32-104)

d. Reconnect the ECM connectors.

OK REPLACE ECM

6.INSPECT FUSE (IGN AND IG2 FUSE)

a. Remove the IGN fuse from the main body ECU


(instrument panel junction block).

b. Remove the IG2 fuse from the engine room No. 1 relay
block.

c. Measure the IGN and IG2 fuse resistance.

Standard resistance:
Below 1Ω

d. Reinstall the IGN fuse.

e. Reinstall the IG2 fuse.

CHECK FOR SHORT IN ALL HARNESSES AND


NG COMPONENTS CONNECTED TO FUSE, AND
REPLACE FUSE

OK

7.INSPECT IG2 RELAY

a. Remove the IG2 relay from the engine room No. 1 relay block.

b. Check the resistance.

Standard resistance:

8.CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM - ENGINE ROOM NO. 1 RELAY BLOCK)

a. Remove the IG2 relay from the engine room No. 1 relay
block.

b. Disconnect the A12 ECM connector.

c. Measure the resistance between the wire harness side


connectors.

Standard resistance (Check for open):

9.CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ENGINE ROOM NO. 1 RELAY BLOCK - MAIN BODY ECU)

a. Remove the IG2 relay from the engine room No. 1 relay
block.

b. Remove the instrument panel junction block (main body


ECU).

c. Measure the resistance between the wire harness side


connectors.

Standard resistance (Check for open):

10.CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ENGINE ROOM NO. 1 RELAY BLOCK - IGNITION SWITCH)

a. Remove the IG2 relay from the engine room No. 1 relay block.

b. Disconnect the E5 ignition switch connector.

c. Measure the resistance between the wire harness side connectors.

Standard resistance (Check for open):
