1. What is the significance of drug evaluation?

Drug evaluation is significant because it assesses the overall effects, safety, and efficacy of
pharmaceutical medications. This process provides lawmakers and healthcare professionals with
crucial information while ensuring that pharmaceutical companies follow legal standards. It is
crucial for making decisions about drug approval, use, and monitoring—all of which enhance
public health and patient care.

Given the constrained budget and rising costs of prescription drugs, the government, institutes,
researchers, prescribers, pharmacists, and pharmaceutical companies should have access to a
standardized assessment approach that they may utilize as the basis for their
pharmacotherapeutic policies. Evaluation, which takes into account both the psychological and
financial aspects, can go in four stages.

2. Define:
a. Crude drug
- Any portion of a plant can be used to make crude medications, which may include one or more
active components. Unrefined plant or animal ingredients used in traditional medicine are
referred to as "crude drugs." In their natural condition, these chemicals are made up of a variety
of chemical components that may have medicinal benefits. There are a lot of illicit and regulated
crude pharmaceuticals in use globally. The essay probably highlights how important it is to
investigate the various chemicals found in crude medications and their prospective uses in
pharmaceutical research in order to better understand their therapeutic qualities.

b. Synthesized drug
- In labs, synthetic medications—also referred to as "designer" drugs—are produced. In contrast
to natural sources of crude medications, synthetic drugs are created by the regulated
combination of several chemical components. With this approach, the drug's composition can be
precisely controlled, improving purity and frequently producing compounds with particular
medicinal properties. One essential component of contemporary pharmaceutical research and
development is the synthesis of pharmaceuticals.
